  • "Go out and buy!!!!!"
    on by mensconfidence

Pros The keyboard impressed me with this machine. I'm 6'2 and I have long fingers, but my digits seem to find my characters effortlessly any time I'm typing. I've found surfing through sites to be a breeze. The wirless N offers speed and flexibility.

Cons It does tend to run on the warm side. I notice that when I'm sitting on my chaise I tend to feel heat fairly quickly. I've simply found a book sizeable enough to put it on to allow ventilation until I pick up a cooler.

Summary To those looking for a laptop for under a thousand, look no more. I've found everything I need with this machine and I give it high-marks on everything!!!This truly is the most cost-effective laptop of its kind. It offers speed, portability, style and all the memory you could ask of a laptop in this price range.

  • "Disappointed"
    on by vaiobummed

Pros It visually looks like a nice computer.

Cons The fan was constantly running loudly but Sony fixed it for free. The battery life is horrible and within a few months I had to keep it constantly plugged into the wall. Takes FOREVER to start up. Can't dl Windows SP 2 without the comp crashing.

Summary I started out very excited about my purchase but was quickly let down. It takes a long time for the comp to start up, and even after you just close the laptop and open it back up it takes forever. The battery, when fully charged, lasts 30 minutes max, and many other people have complained about this. Windows SP 2 crashes the comp, so I can't install it. Now, the port where the charging cable connects is on the fritz. Let's just say my husband has a Mac & I'm jealous. Was hoping not to be hating my laptop just 2 years after buying it brand new.

  • "So far, so good. No major issues."
    on by SavannaGlass

Pros Fast startup, processing speed good, comes in lots of cool colors, keys have a nice touch.

Cons Really heats up, had to buy an ilap stand to keep from really roasting. Battery life is poor, but usually am plugged in at home.

Summary Having good luck, Vista runs fine, screen is clear, haven't needed to call for support. Seems to slow down as heat increases, fan cycles frequently blowing out really hot air.

  • "Hardware is nice but drivers and support is horrible"
    on by Goldcds

Pros Sony refuses to support Windows 7 upgrade and made difficult to downgrade to XP. Never again will I buy Sony crap.

Cons Support is worthless. Vaio with Vista is unusable, total junk.

Summary I will never buy PCs from a company that refuses to support them properly like Sony. Charged me a bunch to get re-install discs, Dell sends them for free.

  • "Best notebook for the money"
    on by goose13066

Pros Cheap, OK processor, really nice screen, look

Cons NONE (SONYfixed the noise problem!)

Summary It was a nice PC ever since I bought it, nice looking unit, really good screen. Processor is OK. Never had the problem of wireless connection with my Linksys router. The only complaint was the fan noise -- SONY is having a service alert on this, they change the fan and use a larger heat sink - now the unit is quiet. Could not be any happier now -- thanks SONY!
