"Great machine, but it has a serious design flaw."
on by RjPuddleglumPros The display is fantastic. Speed and storage are great. Inside the computer runs great.
Cons Design flaw which i will detail below.
Speaker volume is very low.
Runs a little hot.Summary Design flaw: The powerpin isn't built directly into the base. In order to create a symmetrical appearance (which it does do nicely), the powerpin is instead set inside a smaller piece that isn't as sturdy as the rest of the base. If you are not very careful the pin casing breaks, and could cause the wires to break. Sony, is aware of this, and if it happens outside of your warrranty it will cost you at least 300 dollars to fix because Sony will need to replace your entire motherboard to fix the problem. I had my fix done by a local repair shop for 100 less, but in doing so I was risking damage to my computer.
Again, great computer, but i would not recommend it to someone who is going to be anything less than completely delicate with their computer.
I really like my VAIO, It runs fantastically, and is a very inclusive multi-media center, however -
""Just Great" But could have been "Just Awesome"..."
on by sanjesusPros The graphics are spectacular and is so much stable than previous version's of the FW type!
Cons The battery life isn't that long and it run's on intel 2 duo core instead of intel i7 920 at 3.2 ghz which I would have love to buy one like that I don't like the new F series it lost much of the looks on style and benefits that the FW still have!
Summary It's just a great notebook, but they should get the F series out and go back with the FW although with more futures like more graphic 1 gb memory, LED screen, blue ray burn and disk player, back light keyboard, 500 gb hard disk 7200rpm, 8 gb of memory ddr3 1333mhz and intel i7 processor with a 2.0 ghz and turbo boost to 3.2 the i7 920 extreme edition! And a few more things they could add! or just a bigger notebook like the old AW wich it was much like the FW but with a 17 inch widescreen display. That way you guys could fit more things into it!

"Great product, keep away from children..."
on by bobvandellPros This thing was my work laptop as a Senior Developer. It did everything I need it to and more! I ran a web server, database server, and a memory caching server all while running one of those memory hungry IDE's. All without skipping a beat.
Cons Dropped it a couple of times and broke the plastic on the outside on both sides where the power cord plugs in and where the power button is and had to hold the parts together with tape. Then the screen cracked after that. Could be stronger.
Summary Great product, maybe a little better design for those parts that might see damage like the corners where the power button and power plug connector are. Other than that it was a GREAT laptop while it lasted :(
