Summary So my two year old HP laptop laptop finally gave way and I needed a laptop for work. I had nothing but bad luck with HP so I wanted something different and that was not too expensive, but had a great look and performance had to be the key. At first I was going to decide on a gateway, but I did not like the touch pad buttons. I came across this Samsung and fell in love with it.
This laptop is fast. It has the latest sandy Bridge processor that just came out with in the month of this very review. It has 4GB of memory that I'm planning on adding another 4GB to up it to 8GB and get even better performance. Its light weight, doesn't get warm and the fan is very quiet.
Pros Lovely picture , sound is perfect i use skype daily , music ,watch news etc,,,,
Graphic is fine too i installed Photoshop CS3 and im working on photos easily no frozen no slowing .
Cons The keyboars keys could be bigger but fine as they are .
The up down right left arrows used to adjust volume and brightness which is could be seperated instead holding down the FN .
Summary Highly recommended
I purchased this one after returning an HP which had a faulty motherboard .
I got it 2 days ago , Fast startup ,smart nice design so far everything is good .
the thing is mine has 3 gb ram and 320 for hard drive it dosent worry me anyway so far it does the job i need ,so im glad :)
Pros Wide screen, fast start, battery life extender is neat
Cons Arrow keys are in a weird position - takes getting used to
Speakers are nothing to get excited about
Pros fast, quiet, sleek, number pad on keyboard, physical mouse buttons, separated keys on keyboard, webcam
Cons start up issues, cd/dvd tray jam, wifi notification issues
Summary For the price, this laptop is excellent. It has everything I, as a college student, was looking for in a laptop. It has a webcam for Skyping, the keyboard is spacious and has a Mac look and feel with the raised and separated buttons. The mouse has a multi-touch zoom feature which I thought was neat. The outside of the laptop is very simple silver grooved surface which gives it a special feel. The fan is quiet and the laptop never gets too hot sitting in my lap.
The only things I dislike about the computer are, one , the Intel WiFi technology notification is constantly going off, which is annoying, but could just be a software glitch. It doesn't do anything harmful, it's just annoying. Also, sometimes when starting up the computer, the WiFi detection freezes and you must force shut down and restart. I've solved this issue by not having the notification icon in my toolbar, but it's an inconvenience. Two, the cd/dvd door, once opened, is awkward to close. You have to push it a certain way or it won't close right. It's not smooth.
Overall, this computer is pretty solid. I'd say it's better than my previous computer, an HP laptop that was almost double the price when purchased.
