Pros Quality Components
Cons Don't know
Summary I don't own this laptop but felt I should leave this review to try to balance out the fairness of the rating since 2 reviewers rated it 1 star based on software they ordered and not the computer itself.
Pros Weight, IPS screen, trackpoint (love it or hate it), keyboard, battery life, performance, good value
Cons Touchpad standard (not an option as on prior x series), can't disable screen refresh rate change when changing power sources, volume buttons occasionally refuse to work for a few seconds
Summary I am pleased with the X220 overall but there is certainly room for improvement. The fact that the computer automatically changes the refresh rate to 50Hz when unplugged is a real annoyance and there is no way to disable this "feature." I've also had problems with the volume & mute buttons simply not working on occasion. Aside from these problems, it is a great machine. Not real happy with the inclusion of a touchpad with no opt out but most people likely prefer it and it can simply be turned off. Very good performance with just the entry level i5. Excellent keyboard (as one would expect on a thinkpad). The IPS screen is also impressive. Good battery life (about 8 hrs the way I use it: internet, spreadsheets / word processing, Sketchup, some video).
Pros Fantastic performance with i7 Sandy Bridge and SSD; fabulous keyboard, great screen, wonderful battery life; light weight
Cons I can think of none.
Summary I shopped high and low for this machine and frankly it has the best combination of light weight, long battery life, great keyboard and screen and blazing performance. Every other ultra portable I looked at had one terrible disadvantage or another. So I am happy with the machine.
Pros Great quality, quality LCD screen with great viewing angles (if you chose the premium screen option), very speedy, amazing battery life (i've been getting around 8 hours from the 6 cell)
Cons Tochpad takes some getting used to. A little heaview than other 12" ultraportables
Pros Feature packed as base configuration goes. If you add in or upgrade components you will get more than what you would normally pay for. Reliability, size and weight doesn't get better than this. Security with TPM is unbeat by other manufacturers. Great for
Cons Trackpad is not that great. It's ok, but with so many other features it's nothing to gripe about because everything else makes up for it.
Summary Hands down the best Ultra-Portable laptop out there!
