"Premium feel, and a useful convertible feature."
on by nfranksonPros 1) Premium look and feel
2) The convertible feature is very useful, especially when flying coach (tablet mode), or watching a movie at home or viewing a slide show (tent mode).Cons 1) Exposed keyboard in tablet mode.
2) It's a pain in the butt to upgrade the memory from 4Gb to 8Gb. Why didn't they just pre-load the machine with 8Gb and raise the price $30 if they had to, and call it a day?!Summary There are three complaints that most consistently get mentioned in reviews of the Yoga. Wifi connectivity issues (an issue I don't understand, but many say something about the yoga supporting 2.4ghz but not 5.0Ghz), the exposed keyboard, and a bouncy keypad. Again, I do not fully understand the wifi issues other are making note of, but I can confirm that I have had none. My Yoga has connected to wifi networks in the airport, hotels, home and work. The signals have all been strong with staying power. Maybe I've been lucky, but I've had no wifi issues. I agree the exposed keyboard is less than idea. But I would rather deal with an exposed keyboard than I would with a lack of convertibility. I actually didn't think I would use the convertible feature much, but I recently took a flight (economy class) and found the convertible feature to be very useful in such tight quarters. I could read books on my kindle app much easier than if this were a standard clam shell laptop. Also, the tent position is very good for viewing slide shows or movies. So while the yoga does not make for a true tablet, its convertible feature is very useful. This machine is really for those who NEED a laptop, but would like at least some tablet functionality. The exposed keyboard and its overall size however, makes it less than idea for a tablet. The Dell XPS 12 is probably the most clever design I've seen for a convertible ultrabook. It's more expensive, however, and isn't quite as good an overall machine as the Yoga, based on what I've read. Lastly, the bouncy keyboard some refer to is a function of people upgrading the RAM and not reinstalling the keyboard correctly. There are hooks one has to be mindful of to reconnect when putting the keyboard back in (yes, you upgrade the RAM on this ultrabook by getting underneath the keyboard).
Look, I'm no tech geek, and I haven't owned a laptop in ages, but this is an awesome device. The only complaint that I consistently read that I would cosign on is the awkwardness of the exposed keyboard. Which by the way, that awkwardness is 100% mental. If you can ignore it, it does not compromise the usability of the device. -

Cons needs gorilla glass, a bit more SSD memory
Summary This is one of the best PC / Tablet, a lot better than Ipads and other Tablet device which are limit. some people setting for that and end up wanting more. so far the tablet runs fast and smooth. it's funny how people judge with really give it a shot. windows 8 on this, is a perfect match. a lot more useful than some other laptop/tablet

"I don't think I'd ever buy anything Lenovo again..."
on by aquerzePros It was fun to learn to use Windows 8...
Cons The storage on this system is bunk. They made an error in how they partitioned storage and even though they have a fix they didn't fix it for consumers, instead you have to fix it yourself... and that can F your computer...
Summary I just bought the Lenovo yoga 13 core i5 128gb, 4gb memory, yesterday at Best Buy for $870 (10% off open item). As soon as I got it home I checked how much storage I had available of my 128gb. Only to find that there was only 60gb of storage in total with about 30 of that available for me to actually use. I was like ***? So I poured over Lenovo forums and found this article:
http://www.zdnet.com/lenovo-cleans-up-its-incredibly-messy-yoga-13-disk-layout-7000008379/
So since this was actually from Lenovo I ran the program. However, apparently since I forgot to run this program in admin mode it only half way repartitioned everything, so when I tried again as admin I had less than 10g of storage and not only could I not run the program but I couldn't even restore my computer to factory settings! Apparently you need 10gb to do that. Wow, used the one button recovery, tried everything. So this brand new 128gb computer is now rendered useless.
I ended up getting the yoga, my 2nd choice, because the surface pro was already sold out by 10:10am Saturday. Well, now I have to return this and get something that actually works.
This wasn't the only issue I had either. Plugging in my x-box controller to play games on the machine when the computer wasn't plugged in made me lose both touch screen and mouse capability. Sure enough Lenovo forums said this was an issue.
Other complaints about this computer is that the fan is always on. In fact the fan is always on but it isn't that loud.
Another annoying thing is that if you are using the yoga in tent mode the keyboard and touch screen aren't off like when its bent back 360 so I have had times I was doing stuff and then bam it went call crazy.
In the end I think I need a smaller form factor anyways. I really thought this computer was the best surface alternative but I think design and build quality issues makes it so I can't really
recommend it. -
"The Lenovo Yoga is a great design - HYBRID"
on by mlbriggsPros Fantastic design, Premium IPS display (1600x900), Truly best of both worlds (laptop & tablet) experience
Cons Needs backlit keyboard, needs traditional Lenovo keyboard (Yoga has small Shift keys and misplaced PgUp PdDn), seemingly always on fan, needs more configuration options (currently only comes in two configurations, and BB only carries the lower end)
Summary Overall this is a very well designed Ultrabook that functions very well both in laptop or tablet mode.
PROS:
I find the 13" display to be the sweet spot for laptops that allows true work to be done like editing Excel spreadsheets. The Premium IPS display is very bright and has great viewing angles with limited color washout.
CONS:
The keyboard is different. The Shift and Delete keys are about half the size of normal. The Backspace and End keys also fall into this same weird design. All of which makes typing more difficult than it should be. I wish that Lenovo would have simply ported over the keyboard from their Thinkpad lineup, say from the X1 Carbon. Minor irritation, but one that forces me to be mindful of my typing much more so than on other laptops.
I would highly recommend this laptop/tablet to anyone considering purchasing a Windows 8 device. Experiencing Windows 8 on the Lenovo Yoga has shown me what it is truly capable of being in both a enterprise and consumer environment. This is the perfect blend of both worlds in a single device. -
"Best laptop I've ever had."
on by chadWorkAcctPros Super fast.
Battery Life: I can make it to lunch after leaving my power chord at home.
Screen: Crisp
EverthingCons No backlit keyboard. Boo. But that is it.
Summary I LOVE THIS MACHINE. (We plan to get married in June.)
