  • "My experience with this machine is good"
    on by wattakhail

Pros Powerful, Good for basics, video and audio capability is good enough, there is a strong feel to this laptop, looks stylish enough, i have had no problem with it so far, dropped it from my hands on the ground while standing, it still works the same .

Cons a bit on the heavy side with 3 kg. Battery life is 2h 30 minutes with wifi on, one never knows when it runs dry.

Summary I have a 2 ghz T6400 processor, 4 gb of ram ( only 2.5 gb of which is available in vista 32 or window xp 32 bits) , it has Nvidia Geforce 9300m gs graphic card. I had vista, but i have changed to XP home, it works as fast as lightening and is stable.. I am very satisfied with this laptop. It is not for gamers, norfor those who like everything extra slim, it is for those who want a reliable strong machine with good audio and video play capabilities. It can handle any tasks a common user can throw at it. The cam is good, good skype and yahoo video chats among others, connectivity was my issue as i travel to places where wifi is still a dream and lan is not easily available. This system has all the options: wifi, lan, and dialup modem ( for some asian and african countries). I would recommend this laptop to any friend with confidence.

Pros Nice keyboard, great sound for a laptop. Runs cool even under load. LIke the media control features and the Dolby audio.

Cons Levovo value added software really slowed boot times and even caused Wifi to take a extended time to Auto connect. Poor customer service and delays in shipping.

Summary Was very unhappy with this computer at first. The Veriface security software was poor. It would not recconize my face at times in lower light. Luckily I could uninstall it.
The laptop booted so slowly it was 2 or more minutes before it booted completely and Wifi was connected. I ended up uninstalling more Lenovo software like the Power management and ReadyComm which mande a world of difference in speed. Why these companies cannot just let the OS run these fuctions and not take up system resources to perform redundent funtions is beyond me.
It actually hurts the performance and does little to help anything. So after all the crapware was uninstalled it actually ran very well. Oh, I did run a registry cleaner several times after uninstalling the software because it left a lot of broken registry items. All in all Lenovo makes a good laptop here I am not excusing the poor shipping delays or the lousy value added software. A average user's should not have to spend hours uninstalling software just to get the computer to run well.
But as we all know most companies do this and it has become a ritual with me when I buy one. I have given it a good rating because of the quality of laptop itself and if I was to judge the Lenovo configuation of software I would rate that as a one star.

  • "Accident-prone Person- Best Laptop Ever"
    on by Quirky_Ralph101

Pros This computer is a ROCK! I have done so many things to it, dropped it countless times, poured Sprite all over the keyboard, even 1/4 of the pickle juice from a pickle jar gushing onto the entire thing while I was watching a movie didn't phase it.

Cons After 2 years, my average battery life for High Performance is 30 minutes. The sound system is terribly weak, the crunching of a potato chip overpowers it. Shows dirt easily

Summary The ability to overcome the 7 floods I have put my poor laptop through, and the hgih quality of performance it still gives me makes me certain that I will be investing in Lenovo every time I go to buy a computer in the future. For great performance, a slick look, and the ability to survive the apocalypse, it was definitely worth my $700

  • "Good Computer"
    on by detricksnyder

Pros Excellent sound system (five speakers and a sub-woofer with Dolby home theater), 64-bit processing, good screen, keyboard feels great and has no flex, good placing of incidental keys (PgUp, PgDn, Home, End), good internet connection

Cons Vista still has a few bugs

Summary cnet says that it only has 2GB RAM and 2 Ghz, but it's really 4GB and 2.2Ghz.

I've had the laptop for a few days and I am thoroughly satisfied with it. I've tried to slow the computer down, but to no avail; I've yet to use more than half of its computing power. For the money (I payed $550), it's probably the best laptop one could find.

I don't understand why the hard drive is partitioned into a C drive and a D drive, but It hasn't presented a problem.

  • "Good for what I needed."

Pros Enough power to do engineering calculations. Good sound. Nice key feel.

Cons Lenovo installed bloatware was slowing me down during boot up. Had unexplained wifi disconnects. Plan to follow "Very good after bloatware removed"
by jscott418 on December 10, 2008 and remove some bloatware.
