"Just buy it!"on by macfan3131
Quick start up and from waking from sleep
Good battery life for it's size
SSD is nice
Doesn't have lots of bloatware
Cons Keyboard not as good as a Macbook so slower typing
Screen is just slightly below a Mac
Summary Best computer I've owned. I was a Macfan and had Imac's and Macbook Pro's. I've switched to Windows 7 and it's much better than XP or Vista. I got the I5 Processor with 128 SSD. It starts up in less than 15 seconds. It is fairly quiet and never gets warm on my lap since there is no heat vents on the bottom. The screen is glossy, so if you use Mac's it won't bother you. I got exactly 3 hours streaming Netflix with full screen brightness. I get 5 hours surfing the web, etc. This is very light and in my opinion looks better than the Macbook Air. The keyboard on the Mac's are better than this since it doesn't have the Thinkpad style keys. The armrest or whatever you want to call it, is sharper, but I have no problems typing even if I'm being lazy with the positioning of my wrists. I was nervous about buying this, but the light weight, good battery life, looks and screen make it a great buy. The Mac's do have a better screen also, but not by enough to matter to me.
Not sure why people rated a computer they don't own or haven't tried.
Pros Good specs all round
Cons Poor customer service & bad technical support. Lenovo should take responsibility of manufacturing faults to make it cost-neutral for customer
Summary I bought 2 new U300s on line from Lenovo USA....... my wife brought it back to Australia. WHAT THE ??!!?? Both units's rapid boot from sleep does not work? Contacted Lenovo, might have to ship both ultrabooks back to Texas for a replacements.....
Spent more than 1 hour with tech support from USA.... no luck, flashing BIOS, reinstalling drivers, changing power settings all did not work. I have to send both laptops to the repair depot in Texas. Lenovo Australia does not support U300s. Any problems will need to be sorted out in the US...pity
Two laptops with the same problem..... it cannot be coincidence. They will not ship the laptops back to Australia when it is repaired either.... disappointing when it is a production fault.
After sending the two laptops to Texas.... they reinstalled the OS in one, and said the other was fine... sent the first laptop to San Francisco, and not to Australia as requested. Now, the first laptop is sitting in storage in SF, the second one is with the Repair Depot and they say that there is NOTHING wrong with it. I asked if I could speak/email to the Technical Support Engineer, and was told that it was not possible to do so.
It worries me that they have now returned one, about to returned the second without any changes, all to SF where I am not present to check if the units are working properly, and it will cost me US$500 all together to get the 2 laptops repaired.... all at my cost!! The call centre person said that there will be NO refund on shipping, and would not allow me to speak or conatct her supervisor!!
Why is a cost to me when there is a problem with the two units straight out of the BOX!!! And now, I still do not have the computers in hand.... WHAT A MESS!!!
As much as the Industry Reviews on the Lenovo U300s have been positive, I have to say I have been EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with this whole purchase, and would caution everyone about the support provided by Lenovo.
I am now questioning how Lenovo could possibly be a company of good reputation when this is all I get from them. I would NOT recommend Lenovo to anyone..... unless they contact me, and offer reimbursements on the shipping of the units, I cannot change my mind on this disappointing experience with LENOVO
Pros Take us into the future of laptops
Cons Lighted keyboard?
The SSD may not have enough capacity.
Summary I am looking for speed and light weight. I currently own the Toshiba 835, which weighs 3lb 3 oz and it has a DVD.
