"Once optimized the system works"
on by JesseBAndersenPros Capacitive touch screen
Great battery life (8 cell battery model)
I like the battery sticking out because I can carry the system without putting my fingers in the bezel.
Form factorCons Could have Nvidia Ion
Crapware and background processes that slow your system
Windows 7 Starter
1GB model (can be upgraded to 2GB)
No way of changing the touch input font size on Win 7Summary I bought this system and was a bit disappointed at first. However once you upgrade and optimize the system it works really well. Windows 7 Starter lacks all the touch features so you should upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium, Pro or Ultimate. I have ran 720p and 1080p video on this system and it can handle it. For browsing use Firefox and Grab and drag plugin. It's so good.

"Capacitive touch does not a tablet make."
on by steel36Pros Lenovo has gotten closer with this model, with both the form factor and pricing...but..
Cons ...we need resistive touch and active digitizers so that we can, gasp, write on the thing. it is a tablet, eh?
Summary No one needs a touch screen on a laptop unless they are flipping it down and writing on it like a true tablet. This isn't possible here. Oh yeah, and you're also not a useful touch screen option if you only provide Win 7 Starter, which loses all of the touch features.

"The best of both worlds!!"
on by technoprincess99Pros -Great design
-Beautiful, spacious keyboard
-Now available with Windows 7 Professional & a 320GB drive
-Works great as a tabletCons -battery life (ok but could be better)
-screen a little laggySummary I would totally recommend the ideapad s10-3t. I don't think that it really makes sense to compare it to the Ipad. I have both and find that there is not much overlap. The Ipad has great battery life and is a living room tablet for me- always on, always accessible. The ideapad on the other hand does not have such great battery life, but allows you to do so much more than the ipad, especially if you are someone that likes to write, create content, and use a range of software programs for business/school etc. As such I would say it has become my on-the-road travel companion, when I don't want to lug my laptop around. The ideapad is small enough that I can throw it into my handbag and go. Perfect. I carry another battery with me to make up for the poor battery life, and I'm covered. I love reading books on it in tablet mode, and with its spacious keyboard, it's a joy to type on in lectures or business meetings.
It does have a slightly laggy screen in comparison to the ipad, but it is very useable, nonetheless.
There are a few things to be improved, but my question is - is there a better netbook/tablet hybrid on the market at the moment? The Samsung sliding pc looked promising, but ...it still hasn't been released. In my opinion, this is the best out there at the moment, especially if you get the upgraded Windoes Professional version, and follow Jesse B. Andersen's excellent blog on how to customize it for max. performance.
All in all, a must have !! -
"Love it for school and general browsing."
on by Sammy3-3-9Pros -swivel-touch screen
-small and light (not too bad even with the 8 cell battery)Way better than carrying a bulky binder around all day!Cons touch screen does lag at times
-screen can be bit selective: it will sometimes lag on certain parts of the screen, and the part it chooses to do so on changes every time it happens.Summary I really love this little guy! I am a Chem major, so note taking means writing alot as well as some intense diagrams (chemical formulas and reactions as well as math phrasing.) It's lighter than a binder (and there is no risk of it getting heavier)and it keeps me from losing all of my papers and assignments
As an electronic device it's still pretty good. It browses through the internet with reasonable speed as long as you're not watching alot of videos. I do however, recomend getting the 2 G of RAM, I noticed a big improvement in performance after I upgraded. -
"bulky tiny screen, alot of buttons"
on by techman231Pros Tablet + netbook
Cons bulky
