  • "Defiantely the best netbook available."
    on by the-paylord

Pros The S10-2 is solidly built. Excellent keyboard that is not cramped for its size. Fast start-up. Brightest screen ever. Battery life is 4-6 hours depending on intensity of use. The "protruding" negative battery comments are stupid. battery is great.

Cons This device really has no negatives.

Summary I have multiple laptops. Most laptops should be only used if one is traveling on business. They are luggage to carry around. This S10-2 model is truly a portable laptop. Its light and easy to carry around to school or any other wifi hotspot. Unless you are planning to be stranded somewhere for days, you never need lug your charger along. Battery life is 4-6 hours, but if your not gaming full time or watching a movie, the 6 hour range is what to expect. Any of the other reviews here saying the battery protrudes is just idiotic. Yes it is not flush with the main unit, but this is actually a big plus. It tilts the device just a bit to make typing more comfortable and it makes handling easier, because it gives a better grip when grabbing the unit. It is as solid as every other full size Lenovo device. The wifi works fantastic. The keyboard is not full sized of course, but for the size of the netbook, it is solid and comfortable. Unlike the S10-3, this unit has separate buttons on the touchpad. The S10-3 and many other newer models have the buttons under the touchpad which is very cumbersome to use. The 250 gig hard drive is more than anyone really needs in a portable device. Besides Windows 7, it comes with a dual boot feature of a small linux system installed. The device has separate buttons to boot this system extremely fast. The power saving software that Lenovo provides works very well and is easily customized. Lenovo customer service has always been swift and easy to reach. I have no idea why there are comments to the contrary. There is nothing this netbook cannot handle. I stream videos like its coming off a DVD. You install any software using a USB memory device, even Windows 7. The bottom line is very simple. If you want a full size laptop, don't buy any netbook. The screen is the brightest screen I have ever seen. I run it at 50%, becuase its too bright otherwise. The built is camera is sharp and clear and streams video fast. If you can't handle the only disadvantage of a netbook, a lack of cd/dvd drive, then don't but any netbook. If you want a truly portable device that is amazingly fast, light, and had great battery life, then buy this netbook.

  • "Cool little thing to have"
    on by zipster94

Pros Small, has three USB ports, cool design with little Target logos, keyboard near full size

Cons Only a 1024x600 screen resolution, really hard to get my Memory Stick Duo out of it, battery bulges

Summary This is a nice laptop. I recommend it.

  • "Lack of customer service"
    on by ljsphilobe

    Pros machines is ok

Cons Just Terrible customer service. Since there is no customer service, the warranty is useless and worthless. No live chat, no technical support, no online support...Shame on lenovo

  • "I've standardized my company on this great PC!"
    on

Pros The S-10 does everything we need to do. With 2GB RAM and Windows 7, with Office 2007 (or 2010 beta) it rocks.

Cons Uh, you need to spend $50 on an external DVD drive, and another $50 on an external backup hard drive. Not a problem.

Summary Bottom line: Add Windows 7, 2GB RAM, a Samsung 21" monitor, natural keyboard, and MS mouse, and it's an optimum office machine with the ability to grab and go portable in a heartbeat.
I go to meetings at Microsoft and partner companies and I have the coolest PC. Niceto be able to drive PC-envy for $300. Nice job, Lenovo.
