Pros Price, but is that enough?
Cons Quality and after care responsibility
Summary I bought a Lenovo 3000, the screen broke down by itself after 4 weeks of usage(internal crack), and I was "offered" a new screen for £380 = $760, as they just said the warranty does not cover cracks. As if every crack always is a user-generated.
The screen design is cheap and the quality obviousely fails.
Dont buy this piece of crap from those guys, they are not serious.
Pros Solid build, nice keyboard, fast, decent screen
Cons A bit of leakage, no dedicated home/end keys, no screen prompts for brightness/sound
Summary I am going to be brief. I just received the 14" n100 with a T2400 processor and 1GB RAM. The thing flies. It is put together better than most books I have seen in this price range, and I really enjoy the keyboard.
The screen is nice, good colors, no sparkles, but there is a bit of light leakage near the bottom. You have to use the Fn key to get to the Home and End keys. And this is just a nitpick, but when you change the volume or the brightness using the Fn shortcuts, there is no on-screen prompt to show where you are on the "scale" like most laptops have.
Overall, though, I would say this is the best 14" notebook that can be had under $1200. Before going with Dell or HP/Compaq, consider Lenovo.
Pros Well built, and well specified. Parts are easy to come-by and are relatively cheap and quick to replace. This laptop it lighter compared to my previous HP notebook (and Compaq one before that).
Cons Battery died after 3 years. On-board graphics not the best for gaming.
Pros Awesome linux system with some memory upgrades. Shown itself to have been ahead of a lot of curves over the last five years.
Cons Small trackpad.
Summary If Lenovo is still making laptops with this quality, there is no reason to buy any other brand.
Pros It is black.
Cons The DVD failed in short order and we were told BY LENOVO to get an external DVD drive. The 80 GB HD is OK, but really too small. However, since I don't like it any way given the jerky video and no DVD, I don't plan to invest in a larger HD.
Summary Just an overall disappointment, given crappy tech, slow video processing and NO DVD.
