Pros Brightview widescreen is great, Harman Kardon speakers are some of the best I heard, Media Card reader and built in WiFi are excellent as well.
Cons Battery life (is it ever good enough?), a little on the heavy side.
Summary I found a deal on this HP at Circuit City for less than $850 in January. We needed a second computer in our house, and didn't have the desire or room for another desktop. So far this one has been great. It is more of a desktop replacement, so we don't have to lug it around a lot, thankfully. I looked at a lot of laptops before deciding on this one. The brightview screen is great, the speakers are some of the best I could find on a laptop in this price range, and the quality seemed to be as good as any of the other players. (Toshiba, Sony, Gateway)
Ok, I do have a few gripes: I do wish that HP would bundle the Microsoft Office Suite with their computers. An extra couple hundred bucks is ridiculous for software that everyone needs to have. Also, the standard battery is only OK. It will play a full 2 hour DVD movie, but not much more than that on a plane ride. So far, customer service has been OK- only one small glitch with an update that downloaded automatically from HP. Email from HP was prompt and reasonably helpful.
Overall a thumbs up. I couldn't find anything in this price category (after rebates etc.) that could compare with the features.
Pros Price ($800 after rebates including tax)
Cons Outdated video chipset Optional card reader doesn't read CF, the most popular format Doesn't support 2k even though there are drivers for 2k!
Pros Wonderful big screen (1650 by 1080). Decent battery life, about 3 hours and 25 minutes with 12 cell battery and regular use. I bought 1gb of ram, 80gb HD (5400rpm), AMD 64 3400+ Processor and 64MB Graphics Card. This computer is smokin'. I enjoy the spe
Cons When I first recieved my laptop it had one bad pixel on the screen that annoys the crap out of me. HP will replace after 15 pixels go bad. Evidently 1 pixel is considered "cosmetic damage". After only a few days of working with my laptop, the hard drive s

Summary The mechanics constantly break. I have had it for 6 months and have had to send it in 2 times for repairs. Th AC Adaptor fould often, freyed often, the keybord had broken and the plug constantly disconects from the computer. Finally, the overall customer service is atrocious. They have sent my computer to the wrong adress, wiped my hard drive without telling me and had no reason to, the calls are 90% hold time, the agents command f the english language is low and I feel like the orginization does not care. DO NOT BUY HP!
Pros it works...albeit slowly
Cons wireless card, if you more than 10ft away from router does not work
Summary good to use if you buy really cheap/find on in the garbage.....main problem HP likes to download a bunch of "hidden" software....slows computer down to a nice crawl.
if you install windows separate might have a chance to make it work well.
