  • "love the size, hate the service"
    on by tullibe_1

Pros everything about this computer is huge. . . I am larger than the average person so this 20' screen looks like a nice 17" screen when I am sitting in front of it. I love the full size keyboard and 10key with the remote

Cons keyboard shifted slightly to the right to allow for the remote (I find it is useless if you aren't using the built in Microsoft media center poop) and the quicklaunch keys have always had trouble (trouble is, it's a problem with their whole line)

Summary if you like size, Power, and the ability to watch the latest BluRay disks in full 20" glory, this is your monster. They call it the "dragon" for a reason. . . it is heavy. I love everything about this machine (even with the quick launch touchpad at the top on the fritz) (hp says it is a hardware thing, not a software thing last time I spoke with them. . . fat chance i'll send them my computer unless it is totally fried) and would recommend it to anyone. I would caution, however, don't be surprised if you have the misfortune of sending anything to HP to be fixed you may not get it back.
again. . . I would give this a full 5 star rating, and kudos to HP for shipping it out, but for the service they lose a star. . . it's sad that a good computer has to be ruined by crappy service.

  • "Poor reliability, poor support"
    on by renegade-02

Pros Large screen, Blur-ray, HD tuner, full size keyboard

Cons Heavy (but I knew that), faulty quick launch keys, poor reliability, extremely poor service and support

Summary I purchased this customized laptop back in September of 2008. I was immediately having intermittent operation with my quick launch keys like user "SmellslikeCheese" and had to reboot the computer to get them running again. My LCD screen died in November of 2008 after only 2 months of use. The computer has been at the HP repair facility ever since. They keep promising to return it to me in two weeks, but when that date comes, they call and say it's not ready because they don't have the parts. They won't tell me what exactly part they're waiting for and if they will ever get it. HP complaint department is telling me they will have a hard time supporting this laptop anymore and repairing it will only get worse in the future. Come on?! This was the top of their lineup, cost big $$$ and they don't readily support it when it breaks down? That's unacceptable for a company who touts the service and support when waiting on the phone! I must say that they are willing to give me a smaller 18 inch model in exchange, but I don't think it's an even exchange. I purchase this beast for its extra large panel, and that's probably where the bulk of the cost lay. I will probably ask for a refund as I'm tired of battling with these car salesmen.
    I'm thinking

  • "Overlarge, overpriced, overblown"
    on by Vegemighty

Pros Powerful system, big screen, full sized keyboard

Cons HDDVD is a failed format, System is about as easy to carry around as a dead hippo, You could buy a system that had the same functionality for a fraction of the cost.

Summary It's massive, it's heavy, it uses a failed technology. This could only be brought to you by the paragon of massive bulky crap, HP. When I'm thinking about buying a laptop, I look not for something that replaces my desktop, but for something that completes the tasks I require of it while still being able to pick it up and move it around without having my spine instantly snapped by the sheer overwhelming mass of the thing. Also, being able to purchase it without having to murder a hobo and sell his organs on the black market for cash is a plus, too. This is why I picked up a netbook, instead of some horrendously overpriced, overblown monstrosity made by HP. I'll never have need of the dual core processor, the 20 inch lcd, and the hddvd drive, or the eleven minute battery time they come with. This thing probably has a gasoline driven generator built into it someplace to power it with.

Anyway, what I would suggest when you're considering this, is to step back, slap your idiot self, and go buy an MSI Wind, instead, which does 90% of what this machine does at 10% of the cost.
