"Strings attached-Support"
on by SmellslikeCheesePros beautiful, fast, huge screen, TV tuner, etc
Cons quicklaunch buttons failed several times
Summary I fell in love with this laptop. It was great and fantastic when it worked properly. After owning it for a month, the quicklaunch buttons were unresponsive to tapping. Support helped me fix it and then, two weeks later, stopped working for good. I sent the laptop in for repairs and the technicians were unable to fix the problem and they kept delaying when to ship it back to me. I got fed up and got a refund (this all happened within 90 days of owning the laptop). Maybe my laptop was a lemon, but I do not like how apparently the technicians couldn't get to fixing a product they make despite having a month to work on it.

"awesome desktop replacement"
on by mikealbertdelucoPros just about everything
Cons remote could be bigger
Summary is an awesome desktop replacement. my specs vista ultimate 64 bit, intel core 2 x7900@2.8ghz,4 gig ram,240GB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT,20.1" WUXGA High-Definition HP Ultra Brightview Widescreen,20.1" WUXGA High-Definition HP Ultra Brightview Widescreen,Integrated HP HDTV Hybrid TV Tuner and 4 Altec Lansing speakers & subwoofer, this is a "DESKTOP REPLACEMENT" AND CAN BE EASILY MOVED. IT IS NOT meant to be used as a normal laptop and anyone who tries to do so is just an idiot.only thing i dislike is the remote control for the windows media center is a bit small. also i cant find a case to put the computer in when i travel with it. overall its a great gaming/multi-media/dvr/television,stereo/computer.
have had no problems with this beast and im the envy of everyone who sees it. ive had many hp laptops without any problem with any of them.

"Nothing But Problems-Worst Laptop I've Ever Encountered"
on by crespo610Pros Looks pretty.
Cons Where to begin? Nothing but problems with the machine since I bought it 6 months ago. Buyer Beware -- do NOT purchase an HP notebook. Take it from me, you will spend countless hours (I've logged 32) with tech support, and still have a busted pc.
Summary I have the HDX 16 T-1000. It is stylish and has a nice display, when it's working. BUT in the six months since I bought it it has caused me ENDLESS frustration. It has been nothing but problems since it came out of the box. An overview of those problems:
1. When I first bought it, none of the stylish, non-button light-up buttons along the top worked. Good idea, poor execution. It took 4 hours of troubleshooting with tech support to download the right drivers to get those working. Note -- this was RIGHT after it arrived from the factory, where, presumably, the correct drivers should have been installed prior to shipping.
2. We bought this machine because it is supposedly an "entertainment powerhouse." Problem: the Blu-Ray drive they installed in the machine was broken from day one. Sometimes it would skip, sometimes freeze. Sometimes no sound, sometimes sound and video out of sync. Often times you couldn't fast forward or rewind or access any of the menus. After a total of 23 hours -- 23! -- talking to tech support, during which they had me go through the whole gamut of uninstalling and reinstalling every component of the BRAND NEW machine, they finally acquiesced and sent me a new Blu-Ray drive. When it arrived, it did not fit in the laptop. They sent the wrong one. They got it right the second time around.
3. Somewhere around month 4, the speakers decided they would take occasional days off. The little mute non-button along the top would just turn red, and wouldn't unmute no matter what you tried, be it toggling that button, or unmuting from the sound applications directly or from the system tray.
4. And now my latest frustration: What is the most essential user interface on a computer? The keyboard right? Well, as of three days ago, mine doesn't work. For intervals lasting from six to twenty minutes at a time, and occurring at least four or five times a day, the middle row on my keyboard (with the exception of the "g" and "h" keys) completely gives out. Those keys just stop working. You can push them, but nothing happens. That row includes the "enter" key -- a relatively important key. Of course, when you're typing a document, or an email, or anything else in ENGLISH, the other letters on that row are pretty important too. I've called tech support, once again, and once again they start at the beginning by uninstalling and reinstalling all your drivers. Then comes the worst part: even though what you have is clearly a hardware problem, they make you erase your entire hardrive before they will fix it.
Bottom Line: DO NOT buy an HP laptop. This is, simply put, my single most regretted purchase. I will never, ever purchase an HP laptop again. It is inconceivable to me how a brand new computer that is rarely used and that is only used to surf the web and play movies could possibly have so many things wrong with it. My only thought is that the technicians building this machine dropped the parts on the floor and stepped on them before assembling the machine. What's worse, for a machine that REGULARLY has so many problems, the customer support is a surprisingly painful process. I used to have an IBM laptop serviced by Lenovo. When there was an occasional problem, I would call them, they'd ask me to do some quick diagnostics, and if it wasn't resolved in 30 minutes, they'd send an empty UPS box to my door the next day -- the fixed computer would arrive back a few days later. Not HP. When I had the Blu-Ray problem at the very beginning, I spent two consecutive nights on the phone with HP from 9pm until Five' o'clock in the morning! They are so averse to just bringing the computer in and FIXING it, that they exhaust their customers with a barrage of useless troubleshooting before even considering actually fixing their defective product.
For your own sake, I hope you won't repeat my mistake. Stay away from HP laptops. I wish I had. -
"Sucks once warrenty is out"
on by miqdadhasanPros Good screen size, good sound, good multimedia stuff etc good for a desktop pc but movable.
Cons Biggest problem when ya warrenty is out had this computer for a year and after the warrenty has now gone the screen seems to fail on resouluting full brightness with it showing maybe 5% at times.
Summary I think the graphics card has overheated which I have no clue on how to fix seems to work when i put a external fan towards the graphics card but runs on around 20% brightness which is enough to get some stuff done and enough to use at night. I just cant afford to fix it :( or have no clue on how to if anyone has a guide on how to replace graphics card then please leave a comment here. paid 1,600 pounds for 1 years should have bought a PC :(
