Pros Fast and reliable operation. Can disable the touch pad.
Cons Vista has it's hiccups. Quick Play buttons are somewhat touchy.
Summary I bought this computer for work. I am a KJ (Karaoke) and mobile DJ. I use an external 250GB USB drive that can be powered by a single USB connection on any of the USB ports on this computer. You could power up to 3 250GB USB drives on this laptop as well as using a fire wire drive, a lot of other laptops won't do that. I can run an external monitor, a three player DJ program with monitor graphics for Karaoke, run an external sound card, browse my external HDD, surf multiple tabs on the internet, change control panel functions, and more all while DJ’ing music and Karaoke without a hiccup!!!!!! Amazing! I've used more powerful desktops that can't do that. However, my DV6226us does not have a T2060 Intel processor. I noticed that my settings said I have 1.73GHZ not 1.6GHZ. I downloaded HP's processor verification utility and found that my laptop came with a T2250 processor which is a slightly better unit??? It says on the laptop it is a dv6226us as well as on the box, and all the other features are in line with the dv6226us. I purchased from CompUSA for $681 and it came with a free printer, so it was a great deal. I upgraded the ram to 1.5gb and it transformed the performance. I had an incident happen at a Karaoke show the other day. Someone spilled "some" beer on the keyboard. I turned the computer off, wiped it down, turned it upside down to drain out the liquid and blew it off. Turned it back on and never had a problem. Must be some level of protection there? All in all, I am very happy with this computer and would recommend it to anyone. I now believe that HP makes a quality product and will purchase another HP when the time comes for a new computer. BTW.... The fact that you can disable the touch pad was a factor in my purchase. Why hasn't that always been an option on all laptops. I would recommend checking on your processor for a possible surprise.
Pros Vista is the best os so far from microsoft, 15.4" is one of largest screens lcd screen, dual core is great for multitasking, large hard drive, nice speakers, sleek design, lightweight and comofrtable,
Cons Integrated graphics is annoying. You must update the intel gma 950 at the inel website to get rid of random screen flickering. Vista needs atleast 1 gig ram. Can get very hot and needs cooling pad.
Summary I bought this notebook from compusa for a amazing deal of $700 when it first came out. The features of this notebook can be seen on many $900 notebooks. Vista os is the greatest of all time and a blast to use. Dual core processor can run a game and virus scan quite easily. You do need atleast 1 gb of ram or if you can get 2 gb of ram to run much faster. The integrated intel gma950 is annoying at first untill you update from the webstie and can run games suprisingly well. Wireless internet is also a nice thing to have. The lower left of the notebook does get pretty hot and you probably should buy a cooling pad to keep from burning out the processor. Easily the best computer out there for the money and hp is the one of top 3 for quality of their products. If you are at all considering buying a notebook this is a MUST BUY.
"I love it!"on by coral.white
Pros too many to list
Cons battery life, takes a looooong time to boot up
Summary I did a lot of research before buying this laptop, and I absolutely love it! It's relatively inexpensive ($699 after rebates), has 120 gigs of storage (better than most laptops), nice speakers, beautiful Windows Vista, High Definition display, a classy design, and the keys feel great under my fingers.
I've been using this computer for a month or so. The only bad things I've really noticed are:
1. It takes forever to fully boot up. But the standby feature is very efficient.
2. The battery goes dead in about 2 hours. I'm not sure how this compares with other laptops.
3. The body of the laptop is shiny black and shows fingerprints very easily. It seems like I'm constantly wiping it clean.
4. When it comes out of standby, I have to disconnect from my wireless network (or wi-fi connection), and then re-connect, or the internet doesn't work.
5. I have had a couple of software compatibility problems with Windows Vista, but that's not HP's fault.
Overall, I would highly recommend this laptop. It's beautiful, fast, and worth every penny.
Pros wireless works fine, It looks great & good price
Cons Already had to call hp about the dvd player.
Summary I just got mine jan.2007 I love it and use it 3 or more hours every day. I like the remote and the sleekness it's not real fast but it get's you there. And for the price and what it offers best I could find. I will buy another hp again.
Pros good construction, nice features for price, excellent design
Cons Dismal battery life, windows vista has bugs
Summary I ended up paying $700 (after rebates), which is great for a notebook with 1GB RAM, a 120 GB hard drive, and a core duo processor. I installed Unreal Tournament 2004, which is really demanding on the graphics card, and it plays well on the beautiful 15.4" widescreen display. The remote control is handy for playing DVDs and music. There is too much bloatware included, and there is a bug (HP said it's a problem with Vista) that won't allow me to backup the system on the D partition. Supposedly they're working on it. Assuming that bug is fixed, I would definitely recommend this product. You would want to check into a 12-cell battery, as the 6-cell it comes with doesn't last very long.
