Pros Looks nice, good specs, compact and lightweight.
Cons Major sound card problems (sound card conflicting with wireless network card) PLUS BSOD (BLUE SCREEN ERROR OF DEATH).
Summary I'm on my third dv4-1120us and will have to return this one as well. I've had the same sound card/wireless network card conflict problems as other reviewers, plus BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death)! I;ve had the exact same problems as another reviewer. 1st laptop - got stuck on mute intermittently. 2nd laptop - BSOD EVERY DAY the first three days out of box (exchanged after that). 3rd laptop - Crackling sound AND BSOD three times in 5 days.In response to Jake 732's review, I just wanted to mention that the fan setting can be changed in BIOS to disable the fan-on-at-all-times feature. However, I did it several times (on each laptop), and usually ended up turning it back on because the laptop would get a little too hot for my comfort without it, especially when running for long periods of time. Hope this helps.
I don't do any gaming, and I haven't put Illustrator or any other performance-demanding programs on these laptops. Only put Mozilla and Frostwire on these machines (and didn't even put Frostwire on the one I only had for three days, and it STILL BSOD'd on me).
Disabling the 802.11a band of the wireless card helped sound somewhat, but still crackles. I've even heard the the Windows boot-up sound crackle. There seems to be some kind of problem with the sound and wireless network cards conflicting. I tried numerous fixes for the sound but it looks like this is some kind of inherent hardware, driver, or firmware problem. Great.
This has been such a huge pain, not to mention a huge waste of time for all the research and applying fixes, exchanging, etc. I'm considering just returning this one and getting a Mac. Sheesh. I wonder if a big batch of these laptops was just badly made, or if there are some serious conflicts between hardware and/or drivers or firmware that are not addressed. Too bad because otherwise this laptop looks nice and had good specs, but faulty sound and BSOD brand new out of the box are SERIOUS problems. Very uncool.

Pros All that was mentioned above from other users
Cons Bought this computer about 6 months ago and thankfully its still under warranty. Had sound problems from day 1 Recently, computer just died! Not booting up and blank screen.
Summary I bought this computer because of all the great features that this computer has to offer. When I took it out of the box for the first time, I was really impressed by its looks as well. I was very happy at the time. After experiencing the same problems that others have, I am really dissapointed that such a quality company like HP would put a defective product in production with all these problems. Worked with HP support. Had me re-seat the memory simm cards and re-seat the hard drive with no fix. Hardware support to call me to have the computer shipped out to HP. I will update the progress of this issue as time goes on. Very dissapointing! I just hope HP will fix this without any problems. I will let you know what happens next. Stay Tuned!
Pros for the price and the power of it its a no brainer to give it a try. HP customer service was the best i ever delt with was missing 1 key they payed for overnight shipping on everything and fixed it in less the 4 days.
Cons the sound card and wireless adapter was annoyingat first but it is a VERY easy fix any 1 that has google should b able to all you have to 2 is disable the wireless A. the only downside of the case i noticed is the fan on the bottom heats up sometimes
Summary I have seen many people post that this is a junk laptop when the bottom line is yeah it has maybe 2 minor problems that are very easy to fix. The sound card issue that everyone is having with it literally took me about 5 minutes to fix and that includes reading the google article on how to fix it I have never had one blue screen with it in the 4 or 5 months ive had it and even so that isnt HP's fault blame that on microsoft. and as far as people saying HP has bad customer service they have the #1 award winning customer service ive delt with Dell as well as a few others and they were the biggest pain ever to deal with. wouldnt worry about laptop works great give it a try for yourself!!oh and i forgot one more thing i did have it get stuck on mute once in the time i had it and i just reinstalled the sound driver and never have had that problem again
