I will admit that I bought this HP Mini because it was just too cute to resist. I always get compliments! I love how light it is because I usually need to carry textbooks along with my laptop. There are two things that I really hate about this HP Mini though. The first is that I is so loud 5 minutes after I plug in my laptop to surf the net. It's fine when I'm either just charging or typing in Word, but do all three and the fan goes off. The second thing I had is the design of the red carrying case. Dear designer, you picked out a great colour, but does it have to be that tight??? If you're thinking that that's because the laptop needs to be protected, than you are mistaken because the fabric is so thin. The laptop has rubber balls on the bottom so they catch onto the fabric and the case becomes useless as the laptop is stuck. I had to cut my case in half in order to get my laptop out. What a stupid design. Everyone who buys this laptop will have to purchase a new sleeve for it.

The reviews of the "regular" HP Mini 1000 obviously apply to this computer. I bought this for my wife, and just like a lot of designer stuff, you have to decide if its worth the money for the fancy case. She was used to "borrowing" my Lenovo X61 and always commented how ugly it was. I think Molly got it exactly right, great for a gift.

It is a little slow to boot with 60g hard drive, but wakes from hibernation really well, so this is not a big problem. Running Eudora, Firefox, and MS Works - fast enough for that. Had a nice video call via Skype with built-in camera, and it worked well with built in microphone and speakers. Combined mic/speaker jack a little weird, but I don't think you really need a separate mic - at least not for Skype calling. Watched a streaming Netflix movie with a stereo Bluetooth headset and that worked well too.

So it is what it is - stylish, functional, and simple. Don't expect to be a desktop replacement, but works for 90% of the stuff one does while traveling or sitting on the couch.
