"Weak battery."

3 stars  | on by modelafish

Pros

I needed the 10 key numeric pad, and this one works great. Starts up very quick (usually)

Cons

I thought the main purpose of a laptop was to not be tethered constantly to a plug. I usually get about an hour and a half of use before the battery dies. Also has an annoying habit of not coming on after hibernating overnight. On/Off/On works.

I bought this laptop at BestBuy for $439, which was reduced from $599. It wasn't a sale price, it was a permanent reduction, which should have indicated to me that BestBuy was trying to unload them. I got the first one home, plugged it in and was good to go. I liked the feel of the keys and the touchpad. The speed was good. On day two, when I powered it up, the screen had a green line down the right side. Took it back to BestBuy and returned it on their advice. I swapped out to try another of the same. Less than a week with it, the toolbar flickered non-stop when I switched browser windows or downloaded anything. I called the Geek Squad, who didn't like what they heard, and they advised, again, to return it.

I got the first G60 on 11-10-09, the second on 11-16-09, and notice now that the G60 is not on BestBuy's website or shelves. I don't know who discontinued it, BestBuy, HP or both. Obviously, I wasn't the only who experienced problems.
