"The best Laptop on the Market Today"
on by stevenpaganelliPros Everything works and it works well, the speed and reliability of this machine is un-paralleled, yes even to the MacBook Pro, just google it
Cons none that ive seen.

"Fine. No problems in 3 months"
on by GICRONINPros It's fast, has lots of features, looks nice, good support with the 3 year warranty (not that I've had to use it for this laptop)
Cons One thing I don't like, when it's asleep, you open the lid and it stays asleep. My old dell used to wake up. It makes sense if you open the lid, you want to use it. 1 power button push isn't too much to do though :)
Summary I like the fingerprint scanner for windows + power on login. I like the keyboard LED, full keyboard, Nice looks, Displayport (HD), the various other ports, good docking station it fits onto, fast I7 Quad core processor and 4GB of memory is very adequate

"Houses lot of power to allow multi-tasking."
on by frenzycapriPros Very Sturdy
Cons The power adapter is very heavy. You just can't think of carrying it around.
Summary I am using a lighter power adapter which makes this mobile.

"I work with all sorts of laptops this is the best."
on by ibsurfunPros Mine has win7 64 bit and the full 16 G of ram this is an fast computer by any standards and the light scribe blueray DVD burner works great.
I found that large screen to be a plussCons Pointer in the keyboard and the buttons for the touchpad once in a rare while the soundcard will get quirky
Summary One great computer that can do more than most desktops well worth the $. Where it is true that the battery life is not as long as you would like you can't expect more with this kind of power.

"Awesome notebook!!"
on by stef00Pros Almost everything:
Great performance, including playing games (e.g. Starcraft 2), whereas I'm not really a gamer.
Wonderful screen - great resolution, great clarity, very bright and clear.
Great keyboard
Great battery life (4-5 hours, with full screen briCons a bit heavy, but pretty good for a desktop replacement
expensiveSummary I can't speak much about the price as I got it while working at HP. This was my last notebook before moving to another company (I had about 6 different HP ones before this, most of them good, but not as great as this one).
When moving I wanted to buy another brand (I had about 6 different notebooks while working in the company, all of them HP of course, so wanted to see other brands), and only looking at the market I realized how good this notebook is. Nothing that I've seen on the market looks or feels like this one. The keyboard simply feels great when typing, screen resolution and clarity is perfect, in general the design is pretty cool ... everything feels right about this machine.
The only machine that I could compare with this one is the MacBook Pro, but 8540w has absolutely no issue with the heating ... you can keep it in your lap and do whatever processing you want without any issues.
The processor is pretty good and should be more than enough for 99% of the users.
I've used it for programming (which means running web servers, database servers and a few rather heavy applications at the same time), email (outlook), watching moves online or offline and occasionally playing games (Starcraft 2) and I never felt like it's slow or anything.
Bottom line, if I didn't have to give it back when leaving the company, I would probably have this notebook for the next couple of years without any thoughts of changing it. The only reason why I didn't bought it was that it was more expensive than I could afford.
If it is within your budget, go for it, you'll love it.
