  • "Buy something else"
    on by skyeblue1971

Pros when it works the performance is fine for internet usage and occasional videos

Cons unfortunately it rarely works for long - first there is the White screen - now sometimes you can smack it on the bottom and get that to go away but eventually you will get the Black screen then nothing

enough black screens and the hard drive will be frie

Summary just save your money and buy something that works

    Updated on May 3, 2011

Correcting spelling above - should say Hard drive will be FRIED

    on

Pros I like the streamlined look and feel of both the keyboard and mouse.

Cons The keyboard isn't sensitive enough. It also lags when typing.

Summary Bottom line: I wouldn't have bought if I had known what I know now!

  • "A great machine for what it is. Quite useful."
    on by timemanage

Pros Large Screen. Faster than expected. Have little problems with this machine at all. Just exactly what I needed for my own use.

    Cons Touchpad not easily used.

Summary I would recommend this laptop to any one but avid gamers. Big enough not to lose. Have little trouble with it and that is usually not anything to do with the machine. HP(Compaq) and AMD should work on this type of system to make it more available to the public.

  • "Save up a few dollarsmore andbuy something that works."
    on by decourchesne

    Pros It looks good.

Cons When using any program (even one at time) screen often whites out for several minutes and says not responding at top of program page. Couldn't get my printer or scanner to function with laptop.

Summary I bought this computer brand new and have had trouble since day 1. I do not use this as a PC so there is minimum on it to bog it down. I spent hours on the phone with customer service numerous times till finally I insisted that they take it back and repair it. I got it back and nothing has changed. I'm done wasting my time with it. I hope this will help someone make a better decision when buying a laptop.

  • "Attractive, good performance and build quality!"
    on by Kyle_Hamor

Pros It appears much more expensive than it is. I realize its not the most powerful computer in the world but for 98% of people who don't play graphic intensive games or edit videos its more than suitable. The build quality is very impressive!

Cons It tends to get hot from time to time, even when being used properly such as on a desk or table, because my idea of hot and yours most likely differs. I would guess it to reach approx. 101 degrees..? but this only occurs when charging a dead battery.

Summary This notebook computer, is more than enough power for most users I personally love it to death! I spent a great deal of time searching for a computer in the 300-500 range. My main uses for the notebook are a.) work- things like E-mail, writing invoices up, running our program for looking threw inventory at our warehouse etc. b.) personal/ home use things like Youtube.com, Microsoft office, Skype,- have an external web cam, and might i add it plays HD videos beautifully on the bright high deff screen. the HD videos load up faster than any computer I've ever used/ seen. and i usually watch at least one netflix movie a night on it . The reason i personally know that this is the best entry level notebook is because i went threw a great deal of research and went to just about every place I could think of that sold computers, the first place I saw this was at best buy. I really liked it a lot and thought if I could not find any other computer I liked more than I would come back later that day and get it. My next stop was staples, if you don't have those were you live basically its a office supply store with a decent selection of computers. I guess it was my lucky day, because as soon as I got there the computer sales guy informed me that they had a computer on sale clearance and it was this compaq cq62. And even better its the same laptop that best buy has for 299, best buys price was 350, and it gets even better staples has the upgraded version that best buy has. mine has a 320 GB hard-drive and best buys version only comes with a 250GB hard drive. The next thing I want to talk about is the build quality on this computer, its build so solid you would think this computer cost a thousand dollars seriously the outer rim were all the ports are located is one solid linning metal piece all the rest consist of a high strength plastic with a really cool pattern. This computer looks really sharp and now I know most people could care less what there computer looks like but I care because I would hate to be at Starbucks one morning when a beautiful hot girl walks in and sits down in front of me and I have a ugly computer, but this things looks NICE! if I didn't know better I would guess that this computer cost 550$. All in all the build quality is just awesome, like it feels like it could take a fall off the couch or the bed without damage occurring (not a theory i want to test) but the last thing I feel is important it is the most is performance. the single core AMD really impressed me, its very snappy contrary to what the guy who was reviewing it says, unless you are a hardcore gamer or you're going to be editing movies than this is more power than you will need please trust me. I consider myself very tech savvy and I use computers all day and probably more than the average person. And this suites all my multi media needs, large hard drive, large ram, sleek looks, dollar for dollar great buy!
