  • "Subquality equipment; died >30days; dreadful service"
    on by jdls712

Pros When it first worked, the screen quality was pretty good.

Cons Hard drive died in less than 30 days; service worst ever; customer service abysmal; getting support was far more trouble than the computer was worth - the customer doesn't matter to DELL

Summary They lost a long-time and faithful customer and gained a nay-sayer who will NEVER purchase DELL again. In less that 30 days, the hard drive went bad. Terrible experience with DELL customer service and call-in technician; technician made promises that were not kept; days passed and the computer remains completely inoperable. Further, the gift card that was advertised never came. Had been a faithful DELL customer, not anymore.

  • "Good laptop if you go for the higher priced version"
    on by exodian1

    Pros Good Processor
    Decent Display
    Decent Amount of RAM
Plays videos and other multimedia well
    USB 3.0 Ports

    Cons Cheap Keyboard
    Poor Battery Life
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE GRAPHICS CARD(if you opt for the Intel HD)
Whenever I press into the bottom left corner of the laptop it makes some weird noise
My laptop came with some weird audio problem

Summary My dad bought me this laptop as a Black Friday deal. He got it for a good price. However, when I got it, I noticed it had the Intel HD Graphics card which is terrible for gaming. There's about 5 different versions of the Inspiron 15R and only the 2 most expensive ones come with the dedicated graphics card. So if you intend to game, opt for the more expensive computer models. It had a nice sandy bridge core i5 which ran quite fast. Display was nice, nothing special but still good for the price. It came with standard amounts of RAM(4 GB) and USB 3.0 ports which was a nice addition. The keyboard itself was ok but felt a little cheaply made. I did not like the battery life. It seemed really low from my experience, though most of the time I keep my laptop plugged in, but I'm going to college next year so I need a laptop with good battery life which this doesn't have. Also, the build quality was not very great either. Whenever I press into the bottom left corner of the laptop, I hear some weird crackling noise which I feel might be a problem with the build quality. Finally, I'm not sure if this is a problem with just my laptop, but I have some weird audio/headphone issue. Occasionally, when I'll be listening to something through my headphones, the audio will just randomly switch from my headphones to the speakers, even though my headphones are plugged in. And it'll only go back to working properly after I restart the computer. It's only happened 2 or 3 times so its not a big deal, but the problem is still there. Overall, its a decent laptop, but I'm going to be getting a new one next year because the graphics card just killed it for me(though that was pretty much my fault for not researching the graphics card ahead of time). However, other than the graphics card and poor build quality, the laptop is decent and can definitely hold its own.

  • "The Dell Inspiron 15r is a great laptop that I own."
    on by denverb7

Pros It has a dual core processer.
    It is very fast.
It runs through the Windows Internet Explorer which I think runs WAY Better than Firefox.

    Cons It is pretty heavy.
    It has so-so battery life.
I don't know if this matters, but one side is burning hot and one is cold.
    The keyboard's not Apple quality.

Summary The Dell Inspiron 15r is a grat laptop overall, but there are definetely a few quirks. If you unplug it (Tahe the wire from the USB port out, taking it from wired to wireless) and if it is downloading a new update, than it slows down, DO NOT do that. It is alot heavier than the macbook air, which I don't know if any laptop is that light. But if you weren't going to spend 1000 bucks or more on a laptop, than definetely get this. I love it, and I've owned one for awhile, I think it might be a 3.5 stars out of 5, not 4, I always take the CNET editor's word. Honesltely they're always right.

  • "Best Value You Can Find"
    on by Staplegun96

    Pros -Fairly quick shipping time
    -Cheap, Cheap, Cheap
    -Very good for gaming
    -Very Fast
-Generally good customer support (contrary to popular belief)
    -Attractive presentation
    -Relatively light
    -Good Speakers
    -3 USB 3.0 Ports

    Cons Medium-Low Build quality:
    -Cheap keyboard
    -Some rattling
    Not great battery life
Will s*** itself if unplugged while doing anything highly intensive(becomes much slower than it was)
Left side becomes slightly warmer than right

Summary I bought the top-tier gaming one as more of a portable alternative to a desktop and after several months, I am quite satisfied.

    Specs:
    i7 -2630QM @ 2.00GHz
    8 gigabytes of DDR3 RAM
Nvidia GeForce 525m Graphics card with 1024MB VRAM
    580GB Hard Drive

  • "Very attractive laptop"
    on by ramirou1995

    Pros Good Performances
    Nice TouchPad
    Design / Switchable lid designs
Speakers ( with SRS Premium Sound )
    USB 3.0 and HDMI , Blu-ray...
    Attractive prices !

Cons Cheap keyboard and build quality
    Bad customer service ><"

Summary The 15R laptop is really fast and great ( with i3 or i5 Sandy Bridge processor ) , it's perfect for all everyday tasks (internet , multimedia .. ) and even in games but only if you have a dedicated (and optional ) graphic card ( nVidia GT 525 or AMD radeon 6470 ) !
