Pros 640gb HDD, Intel i3 processor, 4gb of ram expandable to 8gb of ram, HDMI port, 3 usb ports, 1 media card reader port, fast, cheep, great overall feel. Nice bright display, lid angles farther back than most others (great for when you have to stand to use
Cons 5400rpm HDD. For the average user you will not notice any decrease in performance, and data access with this. If you really need a faster HDD newegg has 7200rpm drives for cheap.
Summary I am giving this laptop at least 4 stars at this point, because I have actually had my hands on it. Was in to bestbuy last night, and actually played with the display model. Scrolling fast through pictures in full screen only took about 1 second to render the pic to full quality. Video watching was really good with the integrated Intel graphics. The screen quality was fantastic far better than the Dell, HP, Sony laptops that were also on display. Granted the hard drive is a little slow at 5400rpm, but I did not notice it being slow. You can also remedy this buy buying a 7200rpm hard drive off newegg. They have 750gb 2.5" laptop hard drive at 7200rp for under $100. Hell if you wanted it faster you could get 10000rpm 2.5" HDD for $200+. Biggest point is, don't let these reviews scare you off until you've had a chance to take the thing for a test drive your self. If you are going to use for surfing the internet, streaming video, pictures, etc... stuff a normal user would use it for then this will most certainly work for you.
Again this laptop is intended for the average to advanced power user not the gaming enthusiast. If you plan on playing nothing but games on this laptop do your self a favor, and buy a laptop that was made for gaming.
Pros keyboard and touchpad, processor, usb 3.0,I don't know why it's stated it does not have a 3.0 usb

ps. dont read the negative comments, they are just jerks who dont realise that higher specs mean higher costs. goooo asus!
Pros Nice keyboard
Fast very quiet and cool
500gb hard drive

Windows 7 X64
Cons Webcam poor quality
A lot of crapware, has crashed, need to know how to clean crapware
Summary I had an old Dell Vostro 1700 and traded it for this and I am pretty impressed.
The price point is low and considering what you get its worth it.
Make sure to google all the necessary and unnecessary software which was pre-installed because ASUS has a lot of crapware (some are very useful such as power4gear). Also make sure to get a program to periodically clean old files and registry errors and MANAGE START UP PROGRAMS. Ccleaner does all of the latter. After fiddling with these settings it runs beautifully. I do not recommend this for major gamers but light gaming works great (warcraft III DOTA medium settings :P). Currently I am looking into swapping the hard drive with a cheap SSD for Windows files, primary programs, and games while making the original 500gb hard drive external. I am also trying to increase RAM and the graphic memory in use because the maximum graphics memory is 1.7gb but it only utilizes 107mb... I will update this latter to see if it works and if I can get battlefield 3 beta running :)
