Pros Fast, reliable, battery life, 10-key pad, PRICE!
Cons Little bulky and heavy, sticky finger pad
Summary Let me first start by saying I consider myself computer literate, but not savy on computer terms at all! I needed a laptop for teaching and because my desktop was giving out on me. My husband has a Mac and although I really, really love it, we just could not afford a second one. Going for budget, we did our research and settled on this Asus. I had never heard of the brand, but that was my only hang-up. I've had it for about 2 months now and LOVE my new laptop! It's reliable, fast, and does the job. My only complaints are that it's a little bulky and heavy, which I don't mind because I only tote it around the house, and the finger pad (I know it's called something else, but I gave my disclaimer!) is made of the same material as the case so it can be "sticky" if my finger is hot. It can also be sensitive, too, and sometimes I accidentally touch it and the cursor jumps to another area and I find myself typing in the wrong place. Overall, I love this computer, and for the price you can't go wrong!
Pros Good performance/speed (duocore processor, 2x that of most budget laptops). Great on multi-tasking (4g RAM). Long battery life (up to 5 or 6 hr). Decent hard drive space (320g). Mac-like multi-gesture touchpad. Sturdy and sleek design. Number pad
Cons A little on the big/heavy side, but not bad. Not a heavy gaming computer (no graphics card, slim arrow keys). VGA but no HDMI. Fingerprint magnet on top (if you care about that). Reflective/glossy screen (some people prefer against).
Summary This laptop offers at least as much speed and multi-tasking capability than what most people need and with a very good battery life for what performance it provides (this laptop has the longest battery life out of any comparable pc I know of). I wanted to have a fast laptop but didn't want a short battery life for being on the go, so this was a great fit. Hard drive is also enough to satisfy my needs (lots of music, some movies... for big movie buffs, you'd need an external hard drive)..
The touch pad is also awesome... a lot like macs and much better than most pcs, so I have absolutely no need for a mouse (which is a convenient for being mobile)... it also makes web browsing and scrolling in general very nice. Honestly pad has to be one of my favorite features.
I really like the design of the laptop, very sleek looking but also sturdy build. Personally I like the size of the laptop. I wanted a little smaller but it's ok. Medium size... portable without compromising a nice big screen for movie watching and what not. The speakers aren't great, but honestly almost all laptops don't have speakers to brag about... Built in webcam and mic are pretty good for skyping and whatnot. Again though, no hdmi, so you can't hook up to your big screen...
Overall I say this laptop is a very good deal for the price. It's not the best of what's out there, but honestly the technology these days is providing us with much higher performance than most people will ever, ever use. For your average student, first-time pc buyer, or average computer user who wants a fast laptop at a budget cost without having to go skimpy, this is a good choice (Also, know that ASUS is a very good company, even if you haven't heard of it...you can google forums on it..). However, not for techies who need the REALLY good specs or heavy gamers who require high end graphics.. if you're a huge movie buff you'll need a bigger hard drive or an external.. and if HDMI is a must, sadly this one's a pass. For me personally, this laptop is a great fit
Pros Great battery life. Comfortable keyboard. Love the 10 key pad. Love the design!
Cons Speakers aren't that good, but I can get used to that. :)
Summary I love this computer. I had an HP before this, and I will never have one again! This computer is amazing. The out of box set up was so quick, I was shocked. I had it all set up, including copying old stuff from my HP to this computer AND doing system back up done in 2 hours! It was amazing. I love the screen, its perfect size, nice and bright too. It's very fast, faster than I expected. I love this computer and TOTALLY recommend it.
Pros Beautiful: as expected, ASUS has created another very appealing design
Sturdy: there are no 'flex' or 'mushy' issues with the ASUS build
Fully developed around the end-user -- this is a very well designed mobile computer as much as a LapTop -- fully-
Cons No HDMI -- first and foremost that is the Con to mention
Over-Sensitive touchpad -- the multi-touch is fantastic, but the sensitivity is a major drawback
Summary I got the laptop as a quick replacement on a budget (failed HP) and the transition has been MARVELOUS for me~! More than a little uncomfortable with the limitations (no HDMI) and the glitches (touchpad sensitivity) but still amazed at the package and the price I payed~!
Pros Fast, great screen clarity many nice gadgets, lots of USB ports, and the fan doesn't blow on your legs, also has PC port, Setup was a breeze.
Cons no HDMI ports, web cam had to be set up, and still doesn't work, after a year or so the speakers started to digitize. But they still work for now. And the keyboard isn't back lit.
