  • "Good Netbook, Great Value"
    on by DRadj

Pros Lightweight, great battery life, Windows 7, Atom N450 CPU. 3 Power Modes. Easy to switch from Low Power to conserve to Super Power for watching videos.

Cons The touhpad takes awhile to get used to. Very often you can resize the display due to the sensitivity of the touchpad.

Summary I bought this as companion PC to my primary desktop PC I wanted something that is easy to carry and use where ever. It meets all of my expectations. Its a netbook, so I was not expecting a speed demon, but I did upgrade it from 1G of RAM to 2G and it made a big difference. I mainly use it to surf the web, and for watching recorded tv shows when on airlines. It does both very well. I have seen others who commented that it is very slow. I initially had the same impression until I discovered that if changed the power setting from low to super it made a big difference when watching video. Plus I recommend upgrading the memory from 1Gig to 2. I know that adds to the cost, but for an extra $50 it was worth it to me. Upgrading the memory took less than 10 minutes time.

Regarding the battery life. My netbook was advertised to have up to 11 hours of battery life. I have not gotten that much time out the battery, but I believe that is due the configuration that I use. As I said, you can toggle between low power, high power and super power depending on what your needs are. I generally keep it at low power for web browsing, when watching video I switch over to super. Typically I have been getting between 6 to 8 hours use with a combination of using low and super power..

  • "OUTSTANDING Netbook with a lot of the whistles & bells!"

Pros I have large fingers and the keyboard is easy to use. It is a fast computer and no upgrades are needed. I am now downloading various programs onto the netbook and with a 250 gb hard drive, have lots of room left!

Cons So far, abasolutely none :)

Summary I got so tired of Dell's LOUSY customer support that I just returned a newly purchased laptop that cost over $900. Several problems including a irratic keyboard. Went immediately to Best Buy and they had this model with Windows 7 Starter instead of Vista. I plan on travelling overseas with this and know, with the 11 hour battery, that it will last during long flights. Really glad I read CNET and chose this model. I highly recommend it to all!

  • "Everything I had hoped for and more."

Pros Love the size, weight. Keyboard TOTALLY usable despite its size. Touch pad works flawlessly. The energy saving system was a delightful surprise. And Asus makes a way to change your desktop picture in spite of Windows 7 Starter. Battery life great.

Cons The size of the screen makes SOME websites impossible to navigate, but I'm guessing that that's a screen size issue, not a flaw in Asus technology.

Summary Great product. I bought it because of the size, weight, and good reviews. but the reviews didn't tell me all the delightful things I was going to find.

  • "This is a great location computor for me"

Pros I am a professional photographer and have been using this netbook for onsite printing. With a Nikon d300 tethered in one port and 2 disub printers in the other 2 this little moves just as fast as I can push it. Im printing 400 prints an hour. A++

Cons I find the keys a bit small compaired to other models of the Asus and the mouse button is stiff.

Summary At this price I can have several back up netbooks that are easy to cary and provide the functionality that really does a great job. Win 7 works fine and I really love this thing.
