"great netbook"on by facel_vega
Pros portability of a netbook
good performance, battery life
Cons shiny finish makes you into a fingerprint obsessive
Summary I bought this netbook after researching quite a bit online. The tiny SSD drives of early competitors didn't cut it with me, so it was between the Wind and the 1000h or ha in my book. The Asus won me over because of its brighter, better display. I went for the A because I preferred the lower price to the bluetooth of the other model.
Generally it's been a great little computer, does everything my old 15.4" beast does at less than half the weight. I get very good battery life too, and don't find the keyboard flimsy as it has been reviewed in other places. Since I got this computer, though, the new Samsung competitor has come out with slightly better battery life and weight, and I might have made that choice instead had it been available at the time, but maybe not as the Asus still has a price advantage. I wouldn't go with the Asus replacement, whose cleaner design is marred by weaker battery life.
In the end, the only thing I don't like about this computer is its shiny finish. Reviews mentioned it, and I didn't pay much attention, but now I find myself obsessively wiping it down every time I use it. It looks nice when it's shiny, with a deep bowling-ball like sparkle, but I'd rather never notice the case, thanks. Otherwise, a great choice I think. This isn't a glorified blackberry as some have claimed, but a perfectly viable replacement for bulkier and more expensive laptops.

Pros Good balance: Atom processor and great battery life. Not portable like 8.9 inch ones but the keyboard is excellent! Good 160 Giga hard disk, instead of small SSD. This machine has enough speed for most applications... Great value netbook!
Cons I have no complains about 1000HA... Maybe it could come with 3G chip, to become a complete netbook for wireless connection!
Summary I became an ASUS Eee PC fan, after buying a 900 model, with an old and slow, very slow Celeron 900 processor... This 1000HA is a little bit chubby and heavy netbook (close to the borderline), but the excellent keyboard, faster processor and the 6 cell battery make the difference! This netbook works fine with most daily software, like Office, some games and even the Photoshop CS4 works fine! Of course, forget oppening too many windows, but for a single work, it's almost perfect! This is basically an equipment for web browsing, and for this, works perfectlly! I don't think that this (10 inch screen) was an original target for the netbooks and for ASUS, but this product balance size and good keyboard, with excellent battery life and speed. This is not my main computer, and for this job, this is very competent! Bravo ASUS!!! Congratulations... This is a really good deal!!
Pros Small physical size, Large Hard Drive, 95% size keyboard, 1.3 Megapixel Cam in screen border, Fast, memory capacity, etc...
Cons Glossy surface is a fingerprint magnet, Windows XP Home (would like to have a Pro version available as OEM), Not always enough power through USB for USB powered devices (like 2.5" portable hard drives)
Summary Bang for the buck, this thing has it! Instantly upgraded memory from 1GB to 2GB and loaded Windows XP Pro SP3 with all drivers. This is a lot faster than I originally thought it would be. The Atom processor isn't for those that play with processor intensive applications like Photosop or Illustrator, but for the average business person, who needs email, web, maybe a client app or two, this is a great solution! Small, portable, and relatively powerful with good HD capacity, I can't think of a better buy.
This would also be outstanding for Corporate Salesmen that need to check email, maybe a spreadsheet or two along with the presentation and generally don't have the need for all the power that most people carry in their notebook bags. Let's face it, very rarely does one use all of the power of a full blown notebook.
Now, the bad part is this will not power my Western Digital 2.5" external hard drive, but does fine with Jump Drives, and having the SD card reader built in to the unit makes it easier to add extra capacity if need be.
Overall, I make the decision on what we rollout in my company. I will be purchasing more units to replace our aging Notebook fleet, with only a few minor exceptions. The point is, if I can run my enterprise 1000 station network with it and be comfortable (which I have been doing for over a month now), it will be more than enough power for the vast majority of notebook users we have employed.
Pros Great design, great battery life
Cons Have owned the computer just 2 months and the ac adapter has failed. Up to 2 weeks before replacement part ships until then I have an expensive paperweight!!!
Summary Called Asus and it will be 7 - 14 business days until they will ship replacement and that's only after I fax back a form that they were sending via e-mail and I have not received. Told if I'd like any faster I could pay extra for faster service (how much faster they would not say). BUYER BEWARE!!!! As long as it doesn't fail it's a great!!! BUT be prepared for awful support!!!

Pros I like almost everything about it. May be the right SHIFT key could be a little bit bigger. And the touch pad could be a bit more sensitive.
Cons The shiny exterior finish. I found I'm busy wiping it clean all the time.
Summary Very happy with it.
