Pros I love everything about this laptop: size, backlit keyboard, ease of use, software included is seamless! I was concerned that the 15 in would be too heavy but its sleek and easy to carry around. I have always had PCs so this was a welcome change.
Cons Battery life: I have had the computer for about five months and I can tell that these is a slight drop in the length of time that the battery stays charged. However, it could be because Im on this dag gone laptop more than average. :)
Summary I love everything about this laptop, it was a little pricey but it it holds up for over three years it will be well worth the money spent. I have a Dell laptop at work and I always comment to my coworkers on what a pain it is to have an Apple at home and then have to come to work and deal with having to reboot, crashes, sluggishness etc. My 15 inch apple has lots of room to hold pictures and all the other documents I have. And it doesnt slow the system down! I will say that there is so much on this laptop that i havent even had a chance to check out because its packed with so much stuff. I would say the only complaint that I would have with Apple in general is the fact that they now charge for classes on how to use their computers. I think that this is a mistake because the computers are generally more expensive than your average PC and then to charge folks to learn the system (outside of the basic use, they have only video for that) is a turnoff. Other than that Im happy and I dont plan on going back to PCs for my personal use.
Pros By far the best, sleekest laptop you can own. The display is truly amazing. You can also run Windows OS.
Cons Cost. For component-by-component, you can get similarly configured Intel-system for much less.....but they won't look slick as this though.
Summary I've always been a PC person. We have over 10 PCs in my household. My daughter started college this year and she wanted Macbook Pro to replace her Toshiba Satellite. My first reaction was....traiter....just kidding, but knew Macs are lot more friendly than PCs. I was reluctant to spend $1600+ for a laptop, but I wanted to get her what she wanted to start her first year in college. After purchasing it and helping to get her situated I started to marvel at its industrial design. You cannot get a PC laptop that came close to its looks. The system was carved out of solid aluminum block, not bent sheetmetal or plastic. It was beautiful and then the display was truly amazing. It was like taking my iPhone screen and made it bigger. And it OS, Leopard and then Snow Leopard was simply solid. She's had it for a few months and she loves it. I also would like to get my hands on simply because it is the best laptop made.
Pros Everything but
Cons The caps lock key but to be honest my typing is just to sloppy
Summary It's fast, easy to use, powerful, does everything I need it to. Ontop of that it's small, durable, reliable and even pretty to look at. I honestly can't say anything bad about this computer. It astonishes me and I just love it. This is why there are mac fanboys because Apple can put out some great products. As for the steep price, when Microsoft puts out something this good I will buy it no questions about it, and for the record I do own a PC (that I'm on right now infact) so I'm not just a fanboy. I recomend this to anyone out there who's thinking of buying a mac, the macbook line is a great place to start.
Pros The fastest laptop I ever owned, glitch-free, intuitive software, and the lit keypad in the evening is awesome. Typing is perfect for me, and the software is intuitive to run. MSOffice runs much better than on Windows. Rock solid construction.
Cons Adapters required for projectors at added expense, but readily available.
Summary My prior computer was a Sony, and this MacBook Pro was a huge upgrade. I am still amazed at how fast it is, how it always wakes from sleep mode without a glitch (not so on Windows), and how easy Apple software is to run. I am still discovering fun things on this feature packed laptop. Case-in-point: As I was going through my photos, I noticed that iPhoto has face recognition software. So I tagged some people in some photos, and the software went through all my photos and found those people. So, now I can look at photos by event, but I can also find all photos that one person is in. That's fun. I was also amazed at how much better Apple runs MS Office! I haven't experienced crashes as with Windows, or the dogged performance. People in my network use Windows, and we have had no compatibility issues trading files.
The laptop itself is built like a brick, but is light enough to carry in my briefcase with my other stuff. The screen is bright, and I use it all the time to watch movies when traveling. The speakers are good for a laptop, and the lit keyboard is perfect in the evening. I love the track pad. The simple design makes sense and again, is intuitive. I even set it up to do a right click. Battery life seems normal to me, but I don't use it that much.
The MAC OSX program is very stabile. I never turn off the computer. I just close the lid and put it in sleep mode, so when I open it is is instantly on and ready to go. After two or three times on my Sony, it would crash. From a cold start, the Sony took about 10 minutes to boot because of the security stuff I had on it. The Apple takes a fraction of the time.
I love this MacBook Pro. It was worth every cent.
Long Battery Life
Cons Overheats with minimal usage.
Rubber rim around screen collects dust which can't be cleaned easily.
Summary I payed a lot of money for mine and I regret it. It gets up to 195 degrees from running 10 minutes of a simple card game that uses a java applet. You can forget about playing any kind of real games or watching any videos on this machine. It will overheat and have the fans roaring after about 5 minutes. If you want a $2,000 word processor with web browsing then go ahead and buy it. The beautiful screen and intuitive software that apple touts aren't very useful when the cpu overheats at the slightest use. The brilliant designers at apple decided that a sleek looking case was more important then proper ventilation. You have been warned.
