Pros Battery life, Screen brightness and color, multtouch, design, ability to side load windows, quiet under normal use, aluminum unibody!
Cons Wifi reception, under heavy usage the top area can burn you, trackpad not completely flush (im OCD), and its a little heavy, PRICE!
Summary i have always been an avid pc user, always going towards them. i have always admired the macbook pro line from afar. after using this computer for a week ive totally gone back on everything. now when you try to uninstall an app in OSX you leave traces of the app behind and you need to download software to do it for you. now i love performance but this is more than i need. i HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING REFURBISHED, the computer was spotless with no signs of damage, this is a computer that i do not regret spending 2 grand on. remember GO WITH REFURBISHED!!!!!!!! this computer can do everything.i have always been an avid pc user, always going towards them. i have always admired the macbook pro line from afar. after using this computer for a week ive totally gone back on everything. now when you try to uninstall an app in OSX you leave traces of the app behind and you need to download software to do it for you. now i love performance but this is more than i need. i HIGHLY RECOMMEND BUYING REFURBISHED, the computer was spotless with no signs of damage, this is a computer that i do not regret spending 2 grand on. remember GO WITH REFURBISHED!!!!!!!! this computer can do everything.

Pros The performance of this machine seems to be somewhat better than my old 17in. I do like the black frame around the screen.
Cons Position of cd drive, number and placement of device inputs, mouse pad design, placement of mouse pad is too close to the edge, speaker volume, sharp metal edges, difficult access to battery, performance could be faster.
Summary I got this computer about 3 months ago to replace my 3 year old, slowing 17inch macbook pro. I decided to downsize to the 15 inch in order to save some money and in the hopes that I would take my laptop with me more often. With in 24 hours of having this computer I had found several things that I did not like about this machine. Firstly I had problems with the mouse pad. The lack of a clicker makes it difficult to use effectively, something that is very important since I mainly use my computer for art applications. This coupled with the fact that the mouse pad is located very close to the front edge of the computer means that I need to hold my hand at an uncomfortable angle that makes long periods of use painful.
My second issue with this computer is the fact that its metal edges are very sharp. The edges frequently cut into my arms and leave temporary indentations and bruises. I have tried to combat this problem by folding some masking tape over the edges to reduce there sharpness, but this has only been minimally effective.
My third issue has to do with the volume of the speakers. I play a lot of movies and music on my computer and I frequently have trouble hearing things even when the volume is turned way up. I could use external speakers, but I feel like having to rely on external devises for regular use of the computer kind of defeats the purpose of having a theoretically portable machine.
My fourth problem with this computer is the placement and numbers of device in puts and the cd drive. As I said before, I do a lot of art on my computer and have to use flash drives on a daily basis. There are only 2 usb drives on this computer and their placement right next to each other means that I can only have 1 flash drive in at a time. This is very inconvenient and means I have to spend a lot of time switching between 2 drives. There are very few other drives on this computer and as a result many of my other external devices cannot work with this machine.
Finally, the performance of this computer is by NO means good enough to compensate for all the other flaws. I bought this computer to replace my old 17 inch mac. The old computer had become slow, froze frequently, and had difficulty playing discs. While the new machine does play discs and does not freeze often, it still performs quite slowly when I am working between multiple programs and files.
Over all I wish I had done more research before I bought this computer. In retrospect I probably could have put up with the problems with my old computer long enough to wait till a better generation of macs came out. Even though this machine is only 3 months old, I would certainly buy a new computer if I had the money.
Pros Start up is much faster than my old Macbook Pro (15" and 17") and PC laptop.
Cons Poorly designed mouse and USB slot locations.
Summary The two major cons is the mouse pad. There is no dedicated clicker (like the old Mac) and the mouse wanders when trying to click (trying to keep you fingers steady can be difficult). I use both OS and PC operating systems on the mac. 75% of the time the mouse pad thinks I am using the right mouse (PC) to open a menu when in fact I am trying to select an icon. I waste an unbelievable amount of time, using the ESC key so that I can escape out of the right-click menu so that I can select the icon activity.
The USB ports are too close that many times I cannot insert two USB items at the same time. Both USB ports are on the left side, which creates an issue when using an external mouse. I was forced to purchase a USB splitter so that I could use more than 1 at a time.
Would love to sell this piece of junk? The poorly designed mouse pad is wasting my time.
