Pros aluminum body feels great
battery definitely improved
Cons screen too glossy, please make matte option available
black keyboard does not feel or look well, overall a downgrade from the aluminum color keyboard of old macbook pro, used to make the product so elegant, please go back to it !
Summary if you need a laptop now, you should probably consider this macbook, but if battery life is not crucial to you I would consider buying the previous model of macbook pro, with a screen that is not so ridiculously glossy, and with the elegant whole silver-aluminum keyboard
Pros Insanely great design that is just incomparable to any other mainstreams. Brilliant display quality. Generous trackpad. And OS X, of course.
Cons Glass cover for display is more reflective than other laptops. Trackpad click hardness differs from top to bottom.
Summary This is my first Mac, and I'm completely blown away with my MacBook Pro. This is a 15.4" laptop that is more beautiful than most ultraportables. It has great battery life for a mainstream. And with OS X, it is definitely the best laptop you can buy.
Pros A carefully designed machine.
Cons A mini displayport to VGA/DVI connector should be provided.
Summary On the surface, the 13" macbook seems like a better buy than the 15" macbook pro. However, apart from their differences in screen size, the 15" macbook pro uses a much higher quality screen--using the same 9400M integrated graphics card. The level of sharpness and darkness very different for both machine. To me, a blurry 13" screen with a good uni-body is missing the point.
"Buyer beware"on by v2sav
Pros -4GB DDR3 RAM
-2.53 GHz intel
-double touch pad (after you get used to it)
Cons No vents, the whole computer is one big heat sink.
Gloss only display (cant work outside or in sun lit areas)
Apples fan threshold lets the CPU reach over 200 degrees
Summary I am on my second Macbook Pro (first had a faulty hard drive).
With this new one while on the 9400M graphics card the top half of the screen will flicker every so often.
The computer will also reach insanely high temperatures unless a third party fan controller is installed.
The gloss display is beautiful while inside but is useless in the real world.
9600M GT is still not as fast as competing computers and will hold back rendering time.
The first issue of these computers would sleep in intervals of about 30 seconds causing the computer to drain its battery and heat to temperatures that would nearly burn your hand. Apple recently sent out an update to solve that problem but like i said before, now the top half of my screen flickers randomly when on the 9400M.
I am in a class of about 75 students that received the new Macbook Pro's when they first came out. Apple was proud to have such a large number of students receive their new flagship notebook, until we all found problems in them.
I am sure that newer versions of this computer are far better and much more stable than the very first versions that we were given. But it is a good idea to look into competing products before you join the Apple Fad.
Pros Pretty, sturdy new one-piece body
Cons Apple has ditched all serious users by opting for a silly highly reflective screen. If you use a laptop for a living, or do any sort of colour-work photography, graphics etc. Avoid this MAC. The reflections drive you mad.
Summary Unlike most apple products - this is a real stinker. Apple have forgotten, momentarily, that this is a high-end laptop, not an ipod nano. People use Macbooks (often) to work on, not just fiddle about with on the bus. As a work tool, the new MacBooks are next to useless due to the highly reflective screen. This is, unusually for Apple, a case of seriously flawed design. It's just plain silly. Hopefully Apple will come to their senses and fit a decent non-reflective screen soon. If not, it's going to be back to windows PC's for many of us.
