  • "WOW, I am glad i return the DV6000t and glad to cancel my order on the DV6500T"
    on by bahduwa

Pros Frankly speaking i did not think that a computer could restart that fast...Smooth operation, don't even notice that you are running that many programs..

Cons To tell you the truth nothing is perfect... but i don't have anything to complain about so far except for the window side it takes twice a much time to restart.. because of that i prefer the OX

Summary I will start by saying that I toke me 3 months before i finally bought this computer..

I have never use a Mac before in my life.. I see then in my school computer lab i will wait until a window becomes available before i check my mail or print school stuff.. The one time i try to use a mac i could not log out of the computer.. i felt stupid, but that was because i am so use to PC.

Now let me tell you the PC that i looked at before i made the ultimate sacrifice to get a MBP.
I try DV6000t from HP for a week... frankly speaking the speakers are much louder than the MBP but i did not like the screen too reflective... worst of all window vista is sick,, its need some medical attention.. who spent $6billion dollars on a software and five years to develope .. its microsoft..
I order the dv6500t but i have to cancel the order because the sale rep told me that i could upgrade the graphic card.. but two days after buying the comp i call a tech who told me that it is not possible... so i canceled that order.
I then fall in love with the vio fz series... but the truth is why do need blue-ray not really a big fan of movies on laptop...
Fianally my room mate brother camp for his graudation and his MBP was still in the box when he came in.. I was in my room when he ask me can i get the password to your network i said use my cell number ... "it's not working he called out to me" I am coming i said.. what is this? this is hot.. can try it... that was how i came to buy this baby...

In fact i did not buy it until i watch the Steve Jobs speech on June 11 about the new OS coming up.. that was when i finally push that send bottom...

    PS.
MBP is super fast.. never had any problem with application opening...it's my first time using a mac ...i am still getting use to it.. got all summer to fully know this thing but so far so good at least i don't look stupid using it... you will not regret that is the bottomline... about the heat problem that you hear if you are surfing the web, typing a paper or doing light work you have no cost to worry about the heat.. it only gets really hot if you are transfering huge files like when i transfer my 50gib from my trashy gateway laptop that weight 8lbs... and when you are watching dvd...

    Batteries life:
    One it is spectacular...
for me batter life was not really a big deal since i live by the plug for the past 4 years using my old gateway.. from the day i got my gateway i can never get 30mins gate send me a new battery same problem but it was too late to change that...
I use the MBP laptop for three days doing light work without recharging... even watch a whole 2hrs movies at the Pittsburhg international airport and check e-mails...catch-up with the news online.. full wireless strength.. In fact if you adjust the brightness i constantly calculate the time remaining according to what you are doing.. I am in heaven never again i have to be confine to a plug...

Fianally: Bootcamp.. Window takes a much longer time to start, but once its on everything is smooth,,, i am mentioning this because MAC OS takes a little below as 30secs to open application..... from the moment you turn this computer on you will fall in love with it..

    Updated
Try to look for what matter to you before buying... things like card reader... how often do you use it... if all of the time and require the convenient of it built in then look for an other models preferrable not a Mac but it would not hurt to get a little portable one like me,.. upload my pics during the evening when i am home.. don't look at the rating look at what they complain about ,.. this computer is great... you will love it,, oh by the way i am us Window Xp via Bootcamp to write this review that tells you that i am not even use to the Mac yet or don't want to give away PC...

  • "There's a lot to be said for switching"
    on by WalterAnonymous

Pros Gorgeous screen, ergonomics, speed, simplicity, user-friendliness

Cons I've never been thrilled with touchpads, so I bought a wireless Mighty Mouse.

Summary Just picked up one of these beauties this morning, and it's like I just came out of a ten year coma. I had fallen in love with its appearance and intuitiveness at first blush, and had made many, many trips to the Apple retail store trying to talk myself out of it, but in the end, I couldn't resist. Now that I have one, I have to kick myself in the butt for having waited so long. There has never been a PC that actually hit an emotional chord with me before, and then delivered the goods. Granted, I'm gonna have to spend a ton or two to replace all my Wintel software, but somehow, that doesn't really bother me. Of course, if I were on a strict budget, I wouldn't be penning these lines at all, but I'm not, and couldn't be happier.

  • "Great computer until something got stuck"
    on by kech88

Pros Battery life, graphic card, HD, CPU

Cons Dead pixels after 3 days after purchase

Summary The thing that got stuck was in fact a pixel. 3 of them to be exact. This happened about 3 days after purchase. The apple store said it only replaces the computer when it reaches 5 pixels. I googled how to fix stuck pixels and I found programs such as JScreenFix. This program did help a bit. It got rid of 2/3 stuck pixels. the one left did minimize in size and is barely noticeable unless you really look for it. After the whole incident the macbook performed well. The battery life is amazing compared to the latest versions of the computer. Beware of stuck pixels when you purchase it.

  • "PC user switching to Mac"
    on by BigB46

Pros Mac OS, Improved battery life, LED display, Improved graphics, Slim design

Cons Runs hot when video chatting, The first MBP I bought crashed in a matter of days

Summary I had been planning on purchasing a new computer for about 6 months before I bought this one. This gave me plenty of time to research and investigate various PCs and of course Macs. I am actually an electrical engineering student and initally decided to go with a Mac because 90% of my professors used them and highly recommended them. I had some experience with Mac OS and after playing around with it for close to a month now, I understand why these computers get such favorable reviews. I think it is important to know what you need your computer for before purchasing a Mac. If the software you will be using is available for these computers then go for it. I use a significant number of computational packages which are widely available for windows but are actually UNIX based just as the Mac OS. These programs run great on my new computer (meaning Macs are good for more than just photo and video editing) and the software suites that are preloaded onto the computer such as iTunes, iPhoto, and iChat, make it a great toy as well.

The one issue I have had is that the first one of these that i bought I had to return because the computer would crash every time I tried to reboot. Apple exchanged the computer with no questions asked. I did loose some faith in the company due to this issue, but I have not had any issues with my new compuer. The reason I gave his computer a 7 is for this reason alone. Other than that I am very satisfied with the hardware and my new OS.

  • "I can't believe I lived without this!"
    on by Andizzy

Pros Great Magnetic power cable, it has done it job when i trip on the cable it came write off.- Awesome Backlight keyboard- Great for wireless interrnet and great on the go features

Cons -Only con battery heat to high

Summary The New Mac Book Pro is a great powerhouse. And makes for a great road warrior. I have never owned a mac before and I can't believe i didn't get one sooner. I love the way Mac OS X operates.
I almost got unlucky though. I was going to by my notebook one day and when I arrived at the Apple store they where out of Mac Book Pros( the one I wanted atleast). But by the time I was able to go back and purchase the notebook, the New 2007 model had arrived and not only did I recieve wonderful help at the store I was able to get a free printer along with the new red apple ipod.
So instead of the 2.33GHz, I recieved the 2.4GHz along with all the other internal upgrades.
