  • "iBook still has some "spunk" even by today's standards!"
    on by thecalemiller

Pros Small, Ultra portable, Brilliant display, Fairly good battery life, fast.

Cons Battery takes a bit of time to get a full charge, Battery seamed to give out a bit on these models,

Also, for some reason these computer's keyboards put out a foul smell. Some reason the keys reacting to chemicals from human skin, or something.

Summary First of all, you all should know, that when listed the "Pros" section, I was taking into consideration that this laptop is getting close to being 10 years old. That being said. I have worked on and fixed many old iBook that people have dropped, or what have you. I always have a hard time letting them go, just because they are pretty sleek looking. This would be a great item to snag on eBay to take the mac OS for a "test drive" before blowing it on a $2000+ computer. Keep in mind of that of course the new macbook line will be 20 times better. But this would be a great item if someone wanted a computer to check email, and maybe write some papers. The G3 chip makes it hard to watch videos, and they appear to lag. Also, as mentioned already. In many of these computers, as they get old they put out a foul smell. (i.e. has been described as a sweat, or B.O. smell) I have also had success in removing said smell by removing the keys and soaking them in rubbing alcohol. The battery has been known to have some problems holding a charge. Many of the iBooks I have fixed up have often come to me with dead batteries that will not hold a charge. Look Bottom line, this is a old computer that may be worn, but it is a computer you can buy and feel proud to see on your desk. Very sleek, also, if you are looking for a cheap used computer to get caught up on email, or write papers, Check this little wonder out. If you are wanting to watch youtube, or news videos, you may be frustrated trying to watch them on this machine. Over all I really can not complain. 4 out of 5 stars!

  • "broke 6 times in 7 months"
    on

    Pros OS X is awesome

Cons The reliability is the worst of any computer I've ever owned. I've owned dozens over the years, and I own 4 now.

  • "great little note book"

    Pros dvd burner

    Cons need more memory

  • "Fantastic, solid as a rock, fast and simple to use!"
    on by sebrob7

    Pros everything it does!

    Cons nothing at all!

Summary I have my Ibook since 3 years. It's still fast and it works well.

  • "Made in Poland?"
    on by wblakesx

    Pros Cute, good microphe

    Cons Engineering(?) and Apple

Summary Impossible to clean keyboard, so toss it if it gets dirty, and it will if you use it allot ( note, many time's the price/value of what one could get from any other mfg ). While you're crying at that don't let a tear fall on the track pad or youl'll have to pay more to replace the logic board than a new computer ( ibook ) cost, but then you can at least have your data back for the extra $'s... even as you loose the most important warrantee... they tend to die within a week or so of the warrantee expirey. Yea ok when they run, otherwise very expensive rubbish. Check out usenet for "apple sucks" etc. Also while you're thinking all this through, loosing time, getting pissed, something else is likely to hit you, you know, rule of threes. If you're rich enough not to care by all means buy several.
