  • "Great size, fast & rugged"
    on by kenraz

Pros The size is perfect, not too small where the keyboard is too compact and not too large making it cumbersome like larger laptops. The performance is excellent, even compared to large laptops. The option of having the keyboard light up makes it convenient w

Cons The main con is that there isn't an optical drive for your cd's, dvd's ect. I haven't found this to be too much of as issue as i went ahead and purchased an external drive to take care of the issue. It would still be nice to have it built in, but i unders

Summary It is still amazing that in this tiny machine they are able to fit an i-7 processor, 500gb hard disk, 6gb of ram, Nvidia GeForce graphics card and such a great battery into this compact machine. The lack of an optical drive is a bummer, but I understand that something had to be sacrificed due to its size constraints. The backlit keyboard, plethora of usb ports, HDMI port and dual headphone jack are just some of the features you get in this compact powerhouse.

  • "Professional and Gaming"

Pros Best Gaming. Can experience more in visual section. Very Important thing is, it is suitable for professional purposes too.

    Cons Not much to find.

    Summary Satisfaction.

  • "Too many hardware failures"
    on by mbarzilli

    Pros good battery, fast graphics

Cons Have gone through 3 of these. Most of them develop screen/lcd issues after a few months or just after the warranty. Everything from a green line through the whole screen after 6 months to white pixels and halos showing up just after the warranty expires.

Summary it was a good concept and one that was sorely missing from the market. However, do not buy this product. Get a fast-lightweight notebook/netbook that lets you plug in to an external dock or graphics card for gaming.

Dell just messed up the production of these and has too many hardware failures. They should retire this product line as it's too small and all that heat crammed together hurting the hardware component's longevity.

  • "Running ok for gaming and best for the others"
    on by beaver_1412

Pros Good battery for an 11 inches portable laptop

Cons - Tested this laptop with the game Call of duty 4: Modern Warfare. The game play seems not to be smooth as I expected.
    - Not good customer service when I order this laptop in Australia.

  • "Awesome portability and performance for the money."
    on by glittlehoss

    Pros - Speed and size
    - Hinge is fixed from previous models'
    - battery performance rocks

Cons - power brick is too large/fat
    - glare on the screen sucks...need an update to this, not forgivable on an ultra portable
    - ensure you update he drivers/dell didn't load the free fall driver for the HDD...it takes about 8 months for dell to get the bugs ou

Summary Can't go wrong with this laptop but get ready for the glare so don't buy if you're going to be outside a lot and expect to view this easily. There might be some kind of aftermarket product to go over the screen but haven't looked yet. I can't wait for SSD to go down in price. That would have made this laptop amazingly fast. Everyone but me needs to buy SSDs so next year they come standard in the r4.
