  • "Acer is well on its way to making a threat to the Air"
    on by indiantechie

    Pros The size, the specs

Cons the tiny mouspad, the size the price

Summary while acer has made a potentially good laptop it still cant compete with the macbook air especially at only ig enough100 bucks less, its too small for starters 11.6 is just not big enough i serioulsy thinks that a little small even 12 inches would have been better, plus they need to make it better for the price or make it bigger in width because with such a small screen it doesnt make sense to buy this for your primary computer and im not paying 900 for a secondary computer, and the mouspad is REALLY SMALL i mean really, but atleast Acer is giving some competition to Apple and some choice

  • "This sure beats apple"
    on by Mervtucker

Pros It has a super fast start up and can play all my MMO games on-line

    Cons PRICE! PRICE! PRICE!

Summary I got this for my wife , but I have been using it when I am at the airport. The Acer TimelineX can play all my MMO's, Warcraft and Starcraft with no problems. Sure the graphics is not as good as my desktop but it is smooth with no lag. The processor can also do multiple task in the back ground as I do play my games. I am going out to buy own and return my wife's

  • "well,it not bad at all.."

Pros great combination of processor power and features that match what i'd find on a full-size laptop.

Cons No dedicated graphics, plastic body looks and feels cheap.but it's okay..

  • "Brilliant little laptop only let down by awful touchpad"
    on by jgwells

Pros Power to weight/size ratio, size, portability, connectivity, battery life

    Cons Touchpad, webcam

Summary I had originally purchased the model 1810TZ which was so good that I decided to purchase Acer's slightly revamped 1830T. This is a great laptop that manages to pack standard laptop capabilities into a size only just larger than your average netbook. I have an Intel Core 1.33 GHz, 4GB RAM and 640GB HDD in a machine with an 11.6in screen; specs that are almost impossible to find elsewhere in this category and price range.
I disagree with the editor's review regarding it's look. I don't think it looks or feels cheap, and I actually prefer it to the earlier models that came with a glossy cover which was impossible to keep clean. I also prefer it to the Macbook Air 11.6in model which is so light and thin that it feels like a toy I could break or over-bend any day.
I must say however this latest model is really let down by its awful touchpad which I find to be frustratingly difficult to use. I have had many laptops in the past from HPs to Sonys and this is by far and away the worst touchpad I have ever had to deal with. The second (not so significant) downside is the integrated webcam which is only 1.3megapixels, you would think in an age where they can fit a 5mgp camera on something the size of an iPod, that Acer could have provided a significantly better webcam. This new model is also slightly noisier than other ones but this is a minor issue.
Now I simply use a mini-mouse to carry with me so I don't have to use the touchpad, so with this problem solved, I would say that overall I still would not swap this laptop for any other on the market, such are its overall strengths.

  • "Performance is good but only for first dew months."
    on by khy11

Pros Good looks. Battery stays for 6 hrs after the system is a mth old

Cons Worst service. They would charge you even if the product is down in just a month.Support people don't listen to the problem. They just sell their service even if a a user has two year warranty and the product doesn't boot up after just a month of use

Summary Buy it if you want an unreliable product without any support.
