Pros Price is reasonable.
Cons no optical device for DVD writer.
Summary Should include DVD writer.
Pros Light and portable. i3 processor + 4 GB RAM = quick and responsive. 500 GB hard drive = great for storage on the road. (camera photos etc.)
Comes with Windows 7 Home Premium. and Office starter .
Cons Substandard graphics card and terrible speakers. Can hardly hear the sound.
WiFi not always responsive.
Summary This net book is great for travel as it is light and compact. I looked at others and preferred to have more power and speed.
Pros i read some info hear. it was very helpful.
Cons plastic body looks and feels cheap
Summary Acer's high-end and extremely portable 11.6-inch TimelineX 1830T-68U118 offers a great combination of processor power and features that match what you'd find on a full-size laptop.
Pros Light, quiet, fast and great screen!
Cons Mouse and keyboard
Summary This is a very fast, light, cool (as in not hot) ultralight notebook. It travels well and has pretty decent battery life, although not what the ads promise. probably in the 5 hour range.
The exterior looks nice, but does grab finger prints easily which are not easy to wipe off. This is no big thing however, who really cares, it's a working machine. The screen is very reflective, but the quality of the picture is so good that the reflectiveness is a non issue once it is up and running.
The keyboard takes a few weeks to get used to, but it will always be an annoyance of sorts. The mouse pad is horrible and I actually had to go and buy an external wireless mouse. The pad is not accurate, the right side scrolling takes numerous attempts before it grabs. I hope that the next version they go with a new keyboard and much improved mouse, then it would be just about perfect.
I love the adapter, it is at the very end of the cord and is integrated into the plug. The plug itself twists off so you can use other countries outlets without an adapter. Now if I could only figure out where to buy the plugs for Europe and Australia.
The speed will impress you, the fan noise is about as quiet as it can get, it does not seem to go on very often at that.
If you can adapt to the keyboard and mouse, this is the perfect ultraportable out there right now.
Pros This 1830 model truly worked great right out of the box! Fast, easy to use and the best bang for your buck considering buying it from At&t at only $239 including an optical drive and wireless mouse. I use it at home and on the road.
Cons Screen size could be little bigger, but when magnifying to 125% its OK as a second computer/labtop.
Summary Fun to use anywhere. Great portability and windows 7 home premium makes this netbook a nice user friendly gadget. I used to like my sons apple a lot, but now with windows 7 and fast dual core processors I like this combination better. For work I prefer to use my new MSI all in one with windows 7!!!! For most anything else, this little thing is TRULY GREAT. I can recommend it to anyone and "might" even buy 2 more for my kids.
