"Good basic laptop at a Netbook price."
on by tculkinPros Excellent display, runs very cool, light weight. Free Windows 7 upgrade.
Cons Touchpad offset to left - bad for right-handed users; click lock annoying - turn it off. Windows 7 upgrade took 6 weeks to arrive.
Summary Works well for all basic uses - wireless internet, simple card games; fast enough for most functions, but not for video games. Doesn't burn your legs despite several hours' use.
Why but a netbook when a laptop is the same price? -
"Acer Aspire a s5517-1643 AMAZING LAPTOP FOR PRICE!"
on by SupertaperkingPros OK... first I was skeptical. 349.99 at Staples 100 off instant rebate. Plus i traded in my OLD xp laptop. 75$ more off! 275.00 Total! The laptop is smooth good speed and almost NO bloatware! Erase norton and GO! AVG FREE! and Malwarebytes
Cons Touchpad driver SUCKS... roll back to vista ALPS touchpad 207. Disable click lock. Only annoying thing so far! DOES NOT run hot like my wife's gateway!
Summary Seriously, for a grand total of 275! Nothing else could be better... I mean ... uh.. 250gb hard drive 3gb memory and a dual core processor? Granted it is only 1.6 ... it does anything you need (besides gaming) fast and smooth. Webpages open flawlessly and programs run great. Listen if you want a gaming laptop go get one. This is obviously not it. What this is though is a big screen and a really nice running laptop with Windows 7 that runs better than any laptop I have had my hands on. That includes an Apple Macbook... The pro is better than this one but the 1000 dollar starter Apple has nothing on this!!!!
