  • "Great Computer for the price that it is offered at!"
    on by 11hawkinst

Pros Built-in WiFi, Bluetooth, Acer Care Package, Screen, Fairly Light, 5-in-1 Card Slot (SD, Memory, etc.)

    Cons Battery, Speakers, DVD

Summary This computer is great for anybody who needs another laptop for a teenager or somebody who is getting their first laptop. The screen is excellent. It has a Widescreen monitor with a glossy and sharp image. It is not very great if you are going to use it while you travel because it has a 2:30 hour time limit. The DVD also only works with the preloaded DVD program "Acer Arcade". So, you cannot use Windows Media Player or another type of DVD program, unless it comes with a DVD decoder. It also doesn't come with a DVD Burner, which isn't to bad since it does come with a CD-ROM burner. It comes with 3 2.0 USB plugs which is great since a 2.0 USB is a faster than an average USB drive. The computer also has a nice scroll button to use that is right next to the mouse. This enables you to scroll up, down, left, and right when you are using the Internet or a Word Document. Although the computer only comes with Windows Vista Basic, it has a lot of the nicer programs that Vista has to offer like Windows Sidebar and the new Windows format. Although, it doesn't have the cooler graphics the Windows Vista Home Premium has to offer. Overall, if you are looking for a laptop to buy a teenager or for a first time computer user.

    Updated
Ony my review, I did mention that Windows Vista Home Basic is much nicer than XP. If you want a better computing experience, buy 1G of memory for your computer (go to kingston.com to find the kind of memory this computer needs). Your computer will work much faster and you will be able to update to Home Premium. Home Premium, in my opinion, has less problems than Home Basic. It also includes the Window's Aero Interface, which is one of the main reasons as to why Vista is better then XP. It's your choice, but even if you don't get Home Premium, get another gig of memory on your computer and you'll be much happier!

  • "Suprise it works great. No problems, lockups or glitches."
    on by donmelton

Pros Fast with 1GB memory, runs DVD's well,

Cons Doesn't come with Blue tooth option.

Summary I got the next version 3680-2682
I heard a lot of experts complaining about this laptop being a "dog".
I don't know what they were using but I had an IBM t40 think pad. It wasn't as fast as the Aspire and weighed almost twice as much.
I had one issue (Vista Driver) that required a restore. No problem no glitches.
Since it was under $399 when I bought it and my Blackberry was going to be $600 I figure it was a great bargain.
I would buy another one if I needed it.
Service was great since the online customer support and phone service were both 24 hour operations. I also got my answer the first time.

  • "A very affordable and portable notebook"
    on by rak8806

Pros Bright LCD display, nice keyboard, built-in microphone, compact

Cons 512 MB memory is not enought, no built in webcam, speaker volume is very low

Summary I purchased the Acer Aspire 3680-2633 at Best Buy on August 24, 2007. It was on sale for $349. I knew that it ran Windows Vista and I also knew that having only 512MB of ram was an issue. I decided to have GeekSquad add 2GB of ram so I could have peace of mind running Vista and still being able to run other programs. The computer I bought came with a Dual Layer DVD Burner and CD burner. I didn't think it came with a DVD burner but I was surprised and happy to know it did. The computer is pretty quick and runs good. The screen is bright and colorful. The last notebook I had was over 8 pounds so it's nice to have a lighter, more compact notebook. I paid just under $600 because of the RAM upgrades which was definitely worth the $200. Nice notebook that is portable, but will need extra RAM for maximum performance.

  • "Good cheap laptop, once you upgrade the memory."
    on by wpbrewer

    Pros Price, size, ports.

Cons 512Mb memory insufficient for Vista

Summary Found this while looking for a second laptop. Has 2 memory slots, so I added a 1G upgrade - improved performance considerably.
