Use Foursquare Trip Tips to crowd-source travel plans

Foursquare launched a new feature aimed at helping take the pain out of asking friends for travel suggestions.

On Monday, Foursquare launched a feature I'm surprised it took this long for the company to roll out: Trip Tips.

The gist of the new feature is easy traveling. Visit this page and sign in to your Foursquare account. Add your travel destination, dates, and any applicable notes. Foursquare then provides you with a link to share on Facebook, Twitter or wherever.

Friends and family members can then visit the link and add venues you should visit, complete with customized tips or suggestions for the place.

Then when your journey starts, you launch the Foursquare app on your iOS or Android device and view the list under the Lists tab.

Trip Tips is part of Foursquare's List feature, which allows you to crowd-source items on the list, but Trip Tips is far more user-friendly than the Lists interface.

I don't have a trip planned to New York any time soon, but should you want to test out the new feature, by all means, add a suggestion or two to the list I created here.
