If you're using Chrome on an Android Lollipop device, then you may have noticed that tabs are being handled in a new way. Previously, all tab management was done within the Chrome app; now, when you open a new tab, a new entry is created in the recent apps list.

Some users may enjoy this tab management style, but if that's not you, AndroidCentral shares the quick steps to regain the original behavior:

  • Tap the overflow menu (three dots) and choose Settings.

  • In the next menu, tap on Merge tabs and apps.

  • Toggle the setting off if you want all tab management to be done through the Chrome app.

If you change your mind and decide that the new method really was working out, you can easily switch back.

How do you like to manage your Chrome tabs? Are they in the recent app list or only in Chrome? Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments.
