Baby Pokemon: Info and tips for Pokemon Go
Want a baby Pokemon? Here's what you need to know.
In December 2016, Niantic announced that baby Pokemon were coming to Pokemon Go . Since then, nine babies, total, have been added to the game. Here's the info on the cutest additions to the game.
The baby Pokemon lineup

These are the babies and their evolutions:
- Elekid, a baby Electabuzz
- Magby, a baby Magmar
- Pichu, a baby Pikachu
- Cleffa, a baby Clefairy
- Igglypuff, a baby Jigglypuff
- Smoochum, a baby Jynx
- Togepi, a baby that evolves into Togetic
- Togetic, a kid Pokemon that evolves into Togekiss
- Tyrogue, a baby Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop
The proof is in the PokeDex. The evolution chain for the affected Pokemon have been updated to include the babies.
These babies are from the second gen. There are no babies from other Pokemon generations in the game, yet.
Hatch 'em to get 'em
Baby Pokemon only hatch from eggs. The only exception is Togetic. This kid Pokemon can be hatched or evolved from a Togepi.
You can't catch any of the babies in the wild, yet. They also only hatch from eggs gotten after the December update.
Many players were originally reporting that the babies come just from 2 km eggs, but that isn't true. Just like with the adult Pokemon, different babies hatch from different eggs and what eggs they hatch from correlates with the types of eggs the adults hatch from.
For example, Pichu, Cleffa and Igglybuff hatch from 2 km eggs, just like Pikachu, Clefairy and Jigglypuff. Smoochum, Elekid and Magby hatch from 10 km eggs, like their adult counterparts.
Tyrogue is one of the exceptions. It comes from a 5 km egg, but Hitmonchan comes from a 10 km egg. Another exception is Togepi and Togetic, whose adult version doesn't come from an egg. Togepi hatches from a 5 km egg. Togetic comes from a 2 km egg.
What to do with the babies
Just like with other Pokemon, babies can be powered up to fight in gyms (so cute!) and evolved. Each of the babies evolve into their adult forms, which isn't all that special since you probably already have most of the adults.
One good thing about evolving your babies is that the resulting adult may have better stats since hatched Pokemon typically have better IV and attacks. So, even though they are super cute, you may want to give evolving a try once you get several babies.

Tyrogue's Evolution
Baby Tyrogue has three different evolutions.
Tyrogue is, well, a rogue. It is the only baby that can evolve into three different adults. Though you can't control its evolution like you can with Eevee, there is a way to preview what he will evolve into. His evolution is guided by the little guy's stats.
Now, these stats aren't listed with the Pokemon's info, so you'll need to go to your trainer to find out your Tyrogue's strengths using the Appraise tool. Your trainer will tell you which quality is its best, giving you an insight into how the Tyrogue will evolve. If his its attack is its best quality, it will evolve into a Hitmonlee. It will evolve into a Hitmonchan if its defense is its best quality. If stamina or HP is the best quality, then it will evolve into a Hitmontop.
For example, my trainer told me that my Tyrogue's best quality is its attack. Sure enough, he evolved into a Hitmonlee.
