How to balance the white space in the redesigned Google+

The recent Google+ redesign introduced a significant amount of white space on one side of the screen. We'll show you how to center the layout for an improved look.

That's it. Hopefully, Google does end up using the extra space with new features in the near future, but until then, the extension should remain useful.
