Edit Facebook photos online with Fly Photo Editor

With this Aviary-powered Chrome extension, there is no need to download Facebook photos before editing them.

If you've been on Facebook for a while, then it's likely you have amassed a fairly sizable collection of photos. Should you want to edit one of those photos -- or any photo you encounter on Facebook for that matter -- you could download it, edit it on your computer, and then share or save it as you wish. Or you could skip the downloading part and edit it with Chrome extension Fly Photo Editor, an online photo editor powered by Aviary .

After installing Fly Photo Editor, you'll see a new menu option below any photo opened in Facebook's theater view. Mouse over the photo and next to the Tag Photo menu option below the photo, you'll see a Fly Editor option. Click on it and the photo opens in a pop-up window. Running along the top are the edit tools, which you can use to enhance the photo, add a filter, tilt-shift the focus, crop, rotate, and resize. The second group of tools lets you make finer adjustments to saturation, contrast, brightness, and so on, while the third group lets you draw, add text, and remove red-eye and blemishes.

Once you have made your edits, click the blue save button and the photo will be saved on Facebook and placed as an update on your wall. You'll also be given the chance to share the photo on Pinterest, Tumblr, and Twitter.

The extension created a Fly Photo Editor album among my other Facebook photo albums, but it didn't place any photos I edited with the extension there. It remained empty. I would have appreciated to be able to control how photos I edit with the extension would show up on Facebook. I don't necessarily want to post every photo that I edit with Fly Photo Editor on my wall. Still, the extension offers an impressive breadth of tools for an online photo editor while remaining easy to use.
