  • "Good card for gamers"
    on by shadowkai

    Pros Great for games

    Cons ovre priced

Summary I love this card in my new computer, runs like a dream. I thought it was a little pricy however but overall it runs well and I haven't had problems with it as of yet.

  • "a nice card, but cannot stand the tides of time"
    on by yongtw123

    Pros excellent for mid-ranged gamers

Cons temperature can be a bit high, long card

Summary I bought this card half a year ago. By then it was a very good card. I could play anything up to the best quality. However, as time progresses, this card is losing its shine. Newer games, such as Tomb Raider Legend, FEAR, and Oblivion, cannot be played in the best image quality. One have to turn the resolution down, or sacrifice special effects for a better framerate.

I am not disappointed with this card. But right now, it's not the best card to buy, for serious gamers.

  • "Meet an midrange monster"
    on by rollergold

Pros Excellent speed for 300$, dual DVI, an single slot card, not as power hungry as higher end cards

Cons Does not support DirectX 10, not ready for the future in HD for TV or, gaming my setup CD would not work, lackluster software bundle, no games either

Summary This Review is centered around Evga's Egeforce 7800 gt

    Power(gaming):

Card can handle EA's Battlefield 2 at max with 4x anti lasting

Id's Quake 4 at High quality with 8X anti lasting is no problem

Activison's Call of Duty at High quality with 4x anti lasting is what this card can take

The last game I own Atari's Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 with every single setting at max is totally no problem for this card

Note: all the setting run at 45+frames per second with no additional overclocking also these are all my personal experiences with this card your results may vary

    Power(video and overall system performance)

With Nvidia's Pure Video technology my over all video quality did improve but not by much ATI does better in terms of video quality. In terms of overall system performance my system got a 15% power boost from upgrading to this card

    other features

    Its SLI ready
has the usual dongles DVI to VGA Adapters and HDTV connector box however that HDTV connector box will be worthless every soon thank to Hollywood's Anti HD copying plan and this gpu will be worthless if you plan to watch a any HDTV on your pc in the near future (thanks Hollywood)

    Setup:
only 1 hiccup my setup CD that came in the box did not work but that doesn't matter because the driver that comes on a Setup CD is almost certainly out of out of date compared to driver thats on the manufacturer's website

    Other:
this is an single slot card so no need to waste an pci slot its power requirements is lower then the
    7900/7950/7800GTX's
    and cheaper

    Software:
My Cd would not work but from looking at the box the software bundle is leaving a lot to be desired it would be nice to have an game or two as well

    Summery
    This is an midrange monster
from its top rate gaming performance for its class to is smaller single slot design to its reduced power requirements this card is near top of its class.
However its lackluster software bundle to it's lack of support of the next gen in HDTV and gaming prevents this card from being the top dog in its class.

the latter is not EVGA's fault you can pin the blame right on Hollywood for that like you just bought a new wide screen HD display to go with your new video card and you will have to replace both of them in less then half a year consumers deserve much better this is. This is just outrages 300 dollars for a new card and 1000+ for a new HD screen come on this is ridiculous all of the video card/HD screen consumers deserve much better !!

  • "Great Card, Does everything I want, and more."
    on by Atothehizo

Pros Blazing fast, even faster in SLI, and cheap.

Cons LOUD I have two of these and it's awful; It's the only thing i can hear

Summary I bought two MSI NX7800 and they're great. They max out every game and benchmarking program I throw at them. The 7800GT beats a 7800 GTX when clocked around 470 core (which isn't hard to get, I got 495 on two cards). These fans are very loud though, I suggest buying a zalman fan to replace it if you can. I've gotten great scores in 3dmark 05 and 03, but in 06 i get the score of one card and when i have the split screen on (It just shows the load of the gpu and where the screen is split) It doesn't show it 06. I think you have to enable it in some way, and it doesn't appear to be in the free version.

  • "Best prerformance for the price"
    on by AuroraAlpha

Pros Powerful, fast, lots of RAM, fast RAM, quiet

Cons Still epensive, can run hot, doesn't block second slot but you may want to.

Summary Overall you can find these cards for 270 and above. They have 80% performence of the more powerful GTX, and while not even close to the 1900XT By ATI it also cost 3 times less.

It has a lot of super fast RAM (DDR3) and has been able to run any windows theme, game (CS, CS:CZ, BF2, WoW, etc.) without any studders. Many games with recommened setting will underestmate the card, max the settings yourself, it will run just as well. Also it can be run in SLI so you don't have to pay for the power before you need it.

My one grip is that the fan is pretty small (however very quiet) and having a card right below it could cause cooling issue.
