Such wipeouts are usually traced to non-Windows events, cables, power supply issues, ram and more. While I know of a title, it would have likely resulted in the same fate.
-> What title?
Long time satisfied with Win Me 'performance'.
Until: effort to copy multiple folders with thousands
of files from one L-partition to another resulted
in freeze-ups and finally message that Windows had
to be re-installed - without further elaboration.
Using a backup HD with Win Me, I examined the crashed
Win Me OS partition and discovered that \windows\system
files were gibberish - a wipeout! They were neither source
nor target areas of Explorers' directed steps.
Following near 90% restoration - via backups of Win Me and
applications, I'm not confident in using Explorer now in
any fashion which may cause another crash.
Is there an alternative program/utility to Explorer which
has proven exceptionally reliable?
Thanks for any replies,
