Windows 7 Playing Music

I have had so much helpful advice from this forum in the past I am coming here being I got no response in W7 forum.Unable to play music in Yahoo chat rooms,and I'm wondering if there is a codec required.No one in the room can hear it playing.

codecs

I'm not sure how those chat rooms handle music, but it would help if you could compare the file type you are trying to play with the list of acceptable file types Yahoo chat rooms support. I'm guessing it isn't a codec issue so sit tight before you go download any codec packs.

Jeff thanks for starting to dig into this for me.I have confirmed that the file types .mp3 and .wma that are trying to be played are supported by yahoo chat as outlined on this page http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/smallbusiness/webhosting/gfiles/gfiles-24.html
I have no trouble playing these files on my wmp11 and vista in any chat room,but my friend can not accomplish this with W7.The reason I mentioned the subject of a codec is because I did need one for my Vista.Any help/direction you can offer be appreciated.
