Windows 7 And Windows 8 Dual Boot Help

by -Tronic- / January 21, 2013 6:45 AM PST

Alright, so I do have windows 8 installed on my main partition. I have created a second partition with he right settings and volume and size. I have installed a versoin of windows 7 (Not actually purchased) and have used something called the DAZ loader to activate windows 7. When I restart my computer and I select windows 7 everything works properly except for one thing. I have no internet connection. I have a ethernet cable plugged from my router to my computer. Now I can't find an internet connection because it says I have no adapters? I cannon run windows update because I have no internet? It makes no sense. I can basically do nothing for my internet and I need a fix. Would someone please help me?

Sincerely, Tristin

You always want to install the latest OS last
by wpgwpg / January 21, 2013 6:57 AM PST

It sounds like you've installed these two in backwards order. That is you should install Windows 7 first, THEN install Windows 8. It also sounds like for Windows 7 you need a driver for your NIC. Click Start and right-click Computer, click Properties, then Device Manager. Click the arrow to the left of Network Adapters and see if any of the entries there have either ! or ? there. If so, you've found your problem. Download the proper driver and install it, and that should allow you to get on the 'net.

Good luck.

You'll experience no troubles with officially licensed Microsoft issued Windows 7 and Windows 8 install discs, installing in the right order, and using drivers for those OS'es from the makers site.

Now I'm locking this thread because it looks like a case of piracy.
