Why won't my samsung blu ray sink with samsung tv?

I have a series 6 3D LED Samsung TV and a BD-F5900 Samsung Blu-ray player. These are connected by an HDMI cable directly from the blu ray to the tv. I can start a movie and the audio will be very close to the correct sync, but about an hour or so in, the audio sync starts to get worse and worse. I have updated the Blu-ray firmware and there is no improvement. Any help on what I can do to fix this issue? I would think that samsung blu ray players and samsung tvs would work well together since the same company makes both of them.

Hi pezhead53,

I'm sorry to hear about this. I'm going to ask several questions to help clarify what's going on here: what's the complete model code of the TV? Does this happen on all DVDs, Blu-rays, and video streaming apps? Does the Blu-ray player get routed through a home theater of any kind?

Model Code for the TV: UN40EH6030FXZA

This problem only seems to occur on Blu-rays. I have tried 2 so far, Gangster Squad and Django. Both Blu-rays had this problem. Video streaming syncs very well and DVDs appear to sync well, but I have only watched one so far.

The Blu-ray is connected straight to the TV. I am not using any home theater system at this time.

I downloaded the most recent update and am now finding that the opposite is happening after an hour or so into a blu-ray. The sound is now lagging behind the video. By the end of a two and a half hour movie, whole sentences were viewed before the audio was heard. These were mostly sentences like "Will he be ok?" etc.

Hi pezhead53,

OK, let's try a couple of things here. Both of the titles you tried were relatively new: if you have an old Blu-ray title, something from 2012 or 2011, try one of those. See if it has the same behavior.

If it does, then turn off BD Live, and try it again.

I have followed the steps you suggested. These attempts include turning off BD Live. I tried the Blu-Ray "Salt" that is older. I have also tried some additional movies as well. After 45-60 minutes the sound lags behind the video at an increasing rate. I have stopped a movie at about 1 hour and waited a while before restarting (the system remained on the whole time). This restart helped. An immediate stop and restart did not see the same success.

What next?

Hi pezhead53,

I don't have an answer for you just yet, but I've asked the product specialist to look into this issue. I just want go over a couple of the details again, if you don't mind:

- this is happening only on Blu-rays; not on DVDs, streaming videos from YouTube of Netflix, or videos from USB flash drive
- after the firmware update the issue switched from the audio coming before the image to the audio lagging after the image

Originally this problem only happened with blu ray. It is now also happening with streaming content that lasts over an hour. I so not use the USB flash drive and did not notice it on the two DVDs I played a week or so ago.
