Why is my taskbar restarting?

by hotnvicious5 / November 14, 2012 11:03 AM PST

For the last few weeks, my taskbar has randomly restarted; that is, it disappeared for a few seconds, all the icons on it disappeared, then came back. Simultaneously, my wallpaper will disappear. This also happens when I try to
*Launch the File Explorer (D:)
*Launch Wolfram Mathematica in safe mode.

This is probably stupid, but I also feel this has something to do with java -- specifically, javaw.exe. Any tips?

Are you using a local account or a connected account in Windows 8?
Does this software Wolfram Mathematica not function in Desktop UI in Windows 8?

It seems as if the explorer.exe process is restarting time and again. Go to Task Manager; check the CPU and Memory usage for Windows Explorer as shown in the image

Please revert with the information and I will help you further.

Thanks and Regards,

Yes, I checked, and Explorer.exe has been restarting. Is it normal for two of them to run simultaneously?

This is a connected account, and Mathematica works, but gives me javaw.exe errors whenever I start.

As java requires plug-ins it does not run in Windows 8 IE10 Metro Version but, runs in IE10 Desktop
