This happens often. Windows 7, IE7, all of a sudden I get a message that tell me interne explorer has stopped working. Both my windows 7 computers. I tried IE8, does the same thing. Does not affect my windows xp computer.

Most like an add-on. Use Tools>Manage add-on to find out which one (start with disabling all, then add the ones you really need one by one).

Answer
Windows 7 Comes With IE8 By Default, Not IE7
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / December 27, 2011 12:29 AM PST

If you have somehow installed IE7 on Windows 7, that would explain the problem. It doesn't belong there. Ideally, we install IE9 on all our Win7 machines.

What does "stop working" mean? Does it freeze/lock up? When does it normally stop working? Playing online games? Something else? When it does this, can you close IE, then open it again and things work correctly?

Have you scanned for malware? If not, try Malwarebytes from the link below:

Malwarebytes Antimalware

As to it not working "often", then the add-ons issue mentioned by Kees is a good thing to check..

Tried a different browser like Firefox?

Hope this helps.
