my dad's samsung has it...
just started like 2 months ago when the tv was 2 years old
Would your father be interested in joining a class action law suit against Samsung for this deffect? I have spent at least 12 to 18 hours between researching this problem and talking to Samsung Technical Support and Executive Technical Support and they say there is not anything they can do to help and that this is not a widespread issue contrary to my findings.
Help! Please send more info
This is happening to me too and Samsung is not helping at all.
Please send me information on what I can do.
White dots on Samsung DLP Tv
How do I join a class action law suit?
I see you may want help and a suit?
Just to explain it for you. If you join a suit then it's no longer a support issue but a legal one. Samsung has made good on many of the failed chips.
You have to decide what direction to go and I thought I'd share a little about what might happen.
Our DLP Set has the same problem
We also have a set a little ver two years old, amnd the white dot problem is intensifying very quickly. Samsung does not want anything to do with it - they don't even list DLP TVs any more on their website, nor do they address the problem in their troubleshooting guide on their site. I have sent a letter to our attorney general here in CT, and am hoping to get an investigation started or some litigation threatened against Samsung. This problem should have prompted a recall months ago, and Samsung is trying to hide that they are even aware that the problem is huge. Maybe this problem is why they have taken the DLP's off their site. Hopefully the Attorney General's office can help. Anyone out there with this problem should contact by phone or Email their state Attorney general, as they do band together to solve nationwide issues.
from a recent post by a Samsung rep it sounds like they are going to start looking into the issue but I am not sure when or if they will take responsibility and how long there investigation will need to yield eaither a recall or some kind of compensation. The bottom line is for a company as big as Samsung, I think that they should take more pride in a "high end" expensive item and stand behind the product if a defect is present. Only the future will tell. Read down further in this post of research on CNET forums Samsung DLP white dots and read more. There should be a E-mail address that Samsung has set up. According to the rep, Samsung is going to repair and study 50 TV's to diagnose a issue free or charge. I guess we will see what happens after that.......
DLP Extended warranty
I got results after the LA atty Gen'l contacted Samsung. They extended the warranty. Our set was 2.5 years.

NT Samsung Fixing free?????
It's being handled on a case-by-case basis. Try calling 800-SAMSUNG. If they aren't able to assist, ask for a transaction number and post it here. I can have someone review the situation, however, I can't make any promises or indications that a repair will be set up for 'free'.
4007901633. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
White dots ... had the tv just over 3 years

No Help From Samsung
I am in the same boat - HLT5076S with white dots across the screen. 1-800-Samsung was unable to help other than setting up a service call (at my expense) because "this tv model doesn't have the white dot problem the other models do." My transaction number is 2013649605. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It makes me unhappy to think that Samsung knows this is a problem, but are not willing to fix it. I have always liked Samsung products, but this might make me think twice before buying something else from them.
No Help From Samsung
I really appreciate your help - I will keep you posted. Have a good day!
Thank you so much! The Samsung repair man came today, changed out the DLP Chip and was finished in about 20 minutes. I very much appreciate your help in getting this matter resolved!
We are having the same problem with white dots on our Samsung HLT5676SX. We were told on the first call that Samsung would do a one time free repair. When we called to schedule that, we were told it would be $85 and they'd have to take the TV for 10 days...very different than sending a repairman to fix it by replacing the chip-free of charge.
Our ticket number is 4111768097. We also e-mailed a picture of the white spots to the address given by samsung and are waiting to hear back. We were told we'd hear by yesterday and still no response.
I like Samsumg I don't want to say anything bad about the company I just want my TV fixed. I have a HLT5676SX/XAA. I now have thousands of white dots and my TV is unwatchable, it actually gives me a headache watching it. Apparently my model number is one letter/digit off on the end to get a free repair. I can't afford to have it fixed and think I might just have to throw it away. Anything you could do to help would br greatly appreciated.
I received a call from Samsung's executive support team on 7/8 only 2 days after my post. They are extending a one time service to replace the chip and are coming on 7/11. I can't thank you enough and am blown away by the response time. Thank You so much you have definitely strengthened my loyalty to Samsung which was wavering a bit due to this problem.
Thanks Again! Your the best! I'll update again after my service appointment.
I have contacted Samsung about my white dot issue and have been told that I will have to repair my set at my expense. Needless to say, I'm disappointed about that given that this is a known issue. I've contacted the local repair center which told me the same thing. Perhaps I can get some assistance here. Could really use some. My ticket # is 4008459328.
white dots, no help
I contacted the samsung customer service, the women who helped me 'had never heard of the white dot problem' and the only suggestion she offered was to call a local technician. I dont make much money and my fiance and I just want to watch our tv without everything looking like a star wars movie. If anyone can help it would be really appreciated. I have a Samsung 50 inch model number T5075S.
Great new for you (asandersuw), I also just got my TV (HLT5676SX/XAA)fixed yesterday. It took a week to have a tech come out and fix it. My advice to everyone out there is to keep contacting Samsung. I had to call them 3 times in one day until I finally got a customer service rep willing to help. I compared Samsung with ADT Security Systems, they're sooo big communition within is horrible.
I see that you just had your HLT5676SX/XXA (which is the same TV that we have) fixed after having white spots appear. I am still getting the run around and being told by Samsung that we'll have to pay an $85 trip charge for their repair people to diagnose and fix it. They are now saying that the chip is not defective-after clearly telling us on our first call that it is a covered repair. Can you tell me more about your experience?
