There may be other issues than just a router replacement, issues could involve server capability, physical impediments, bandwidth drain..on and on. Personally I like some of the Linksys (Cisco) units they generally do a good job. You didn't mention a Modem, perhaps that is furnished by your server but a pretty good bet would be a Motorola Surfboard, there are others. The other thing(s) would be computer system capability, assuming your laptop(s) are N/Gigabit capable and if you are running a network, desktop(s), that they have N capability as well. The other thing to do would be to swap out your ethernet cable(s) from CAT-5 to CAT-6 for better potential throughput.

I like the Asus ones since they have received positive reviews from professional reviewers and customers alike. But I think the Linksys one looks interesting as well. From what I understand the Linksys is more advanced than the other two but I am not completely sure, and if it is if it is worth the extra money.
I am wondering if the other models would be significantly better than my current router.
Currently I am using the:
