When to change course

by davidb3069 / June 6, 2013 2:22 AM PDT

I have been in the same software phone dating business for many years. The market has changed a lot over the last 5 years with the economy the way it is. I have as of late had to rethink my approach to marketing and sales as there is a different world out there today.

I think it is very important as a business owner to realize that sometimes you have to reinvent yourself. Do not be afraid to look outside the box and see if what you are doing is still working as intended. It is something that is very difficult to do in business but necessary.

This is really the purpose of the business and marketing plan in a business and that is the reason why those documents should be updated on a regular basis.

Many of these forums talk about starting new businesses but sometimes examining your old business is necessary too.

Food for thought.

That article hits home because I have been a developer for many, many years. My roots are in bulletin boards with modems. It was the internet before the internet. I remember when email took 2 to 3 days to arrive (sometimes never did). Email was still faster than US MAIL though.

My business was around back then.
