What is Python 2.2.1?

by tomag / August 10, 2004 1:47 PM PDT

I am a novice at all this. I see in my control panel under add/remove programs, there is Python 2.2.1, what is that and what does it do? Is it a necessary part of the system? Thanks, Tom...........

Put simply, some program you installed was written using Python (my guess would be a bittorrent client), so you need Python installed to make it run. It's harmless, and nothing you need to worry about.

Thanks guys for all your help and answers. Just to clear up how I got Python on my computer, I bought a new HP and it must have came installed on it. I happen to see it when I was looking in the add/delete programs in the control panel. As usual, this site is the best for answering questions and solving problems. This is where I always come first. (No need to look elsewhere). Thanks, Tom
